Hi, My name is Jessi, and I am in DIRE need of help. On Sunday, Jan 20th, 2013 I woke up and noticed a very odd swelling forming on my Clitoris, didnt know what it was but within a 2 days span, it got bigger, so I went to the doctor and they said I have a UTI.. I seen some symptoms such as burning when peeing, itching, and painful, so they gave me Ciprofloxacn, (taken 2 pills so far and it got BIGGER!!) I am afraid to die.. It doesnt hurt to pee though, its just my clitoris that is swollen and it is painful. and I also have this cream vaginal stuff that I use to cure a yeast infection.. How long does it take for the swelling to stop? I have been drinking water since I noticed. but it got bigger, and do i rinse it with warm or cold water? Please help me :,c Thank you..

I have this 2 since taking trimethoprim... It is definitely an allergic reaction 2 medication without a doubt... Ive taken it twice now and got same reaction.... I will never take it again! First... labia on 1 side swells and itches, then swelling goes and delicate skin starts peeling leaving open wounds that are hard to heal.. Sore to pee and wear clothes. Is absolute nightmare... I'm going 2 docs 2moz 2 get something 4 it and 2 add 2 my notes that I have an allergy with trimethoprim and will Never take again. Hope this helps.

I'm going through the same thing right now I went to the doctor 4days ago cause at first one side of my labia was swollen and it burned and itched. They put me on Ciprofloxacn and on the 2nd or 3rd day I had skin peeling off my labia it was painful.. The itching and burning isn't as bad now on my 4th day but the peeling skin is still going on. It's kinda a dry cumm like that peels off also. I have an appointment tomorrow to make sure my UTI has went away.. I'm gonna have them run a test to see if I  allergic to this medication cause I've never taken it before
I am going through the same thing too and I was just put on Cipro, I want to know the end result of your treatment was. Did it all go away after your medications?

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
This swelling of clitoris and labia can be due to the infection or maybe due to an allergic reaction to the drug. Wash the areas several times with fresh water. Do not use any cosmetic products at the sites. You can apply some calamine lotion at the rash as it will help in soothing the skin. Also wear cotton undergarments. Application of mild corticosteroid cream and oral antiinflammatories like ibuprofen/acetaminophen are also helpful.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
