i need advice about a pain in my vagina

by jordijac, Oct 05, 2005 12:00AM
there
i am hoping that you might be able to give me some advice, i am not really sure where to begin.
my husband and i had intercourse tuesday night and it was a little rough.
it was a bit sore but not to bad and i thought it would pass, but today it has been shocking.
i got my husband to have a look and he said that it looks swollen and like it has little cuts around the vagina.
it is so painfull that i cant sleep.
i put some canasten on the vagina thinking that it might help but it hasnt.
there is no pain inside the vagina it is all on the outside.
where my pubic hairs are it feels painful to press like it is bruised.
what i want to know is what can i do to make the pain stop?
i dont really want to go to the doctors as we live in a small country town and i know her personally and its just very embarresing to go and see her and then say its because we had rough sex.
i just dont know what to do but the pain is driving me crazy.
i have tried putting heat around the vagina and also a cold cloth but nothing.
my husband said it looks red and sore doh i know that.

WELL... I sure can see how this can be embarassing to see your friend who happens to be your gynocologist.  I still think you should see her she may be able to give you something that will maje you feel more confortable faster.  But if you chose not too I suggest there is some spray that they give ladies after they have babies to spray down there to help with the pain.  Like a topical anesthetic. (it did wonders for me as i tore pretty bad) that will help numb the small cuts until they heal.  As for the bruising.. i maybe tylenol or motrin.  Hope that helps.

i have been sore on top as if it were bruised (all that bumping i suppose)but that part wont last, it will go away.as for the other stuff what if got an ice pack and placed in on your vagina? that may make it feel better.
i wouldnt let a friend who is a gyno. bother me. (easier said than done, my friend is a massage therapist and i dont want to go to her so i see what ya mean) but dr.s have seen it all and i mean it all. she probably has rough sex herself. dont tell her its from that. just say you made love and this is what happened.or call the office. sometimes you can talk to a midwife, nurse or something and they can suggest over the phone what may help. you are not the only one to have experienced this. if you dont go, maybe next time you have sex use lubrication. good luck.

The pain spray is called dermoplast and most pharmacies sell it over the counter. I would also suggest an ice pack (frozen veggies might work better, they will form to the area easier) wrap which ever you choose to use in a towel and apply to the area for about 15 minutes or so. Reapply as often as needed, but definitely take a break between applications.

I would also suggest taking a break from the action so to speak. Take some tylenol for pain as needed, if it lasts more than a few days or if the suggestions don't help, it is then time to see your doctor.

My doc told me about an over-the-counter cream called gynacort (sp?) that you can put on vaginal cuts/tears.  I've had them--ouch!

After my first they gave me this mousse stuff to spray right on the pad for episiotomy pain. IT was like magic but can't remember what it was called since it was over 16 years ago. But I think it was the Dermoplast. I think whatever is in those Tucks medicated pads would help as well.

my mother had that kind of pain for 32 years and then she went to the right doctor and she was diagnosed with pudendal neuralgia.  her doctor is doctor conway from merrimack, NH.  I don't want anyone else to suffer because doctors don't know what is wrong.  I hope this helps

I have a sharp pain in or around my vagina, i would have them during my periods that made me not able to sit. Now for a few months they have been happening randomly. Two months ago I had a pregnancy test with planned parenthood and it was negative. I took the pregnancy tests from boxes gotten from pharmacies and the first one I took could not tell if i'm pregnant from the sex we had a day ago but of the one last week. Then a week after I got my period I took the last one and it said I wasn't pregnant again. What is this pain, cuz I could be pregnant but I have no symptoms. And all the negatives roam again and again.
