implantation bleeding and pregnancy test

by nick§kin, Nov 25, 2005 12:00AM
hey guys i really need some help. my girlfriend and i have recently had quite the scare. she has been on the pill for about 5 or 6 months. during this time we did not use a condom, but i "pulled-out" every time. she just had her period, however, it was lighter and shorter than usual. we also took an e.p.t pregnancy test and it came out a light negative. she has always had a weird period b/c she is a runner, but we are still worried there is a chance of pregnancy. not sure if it is implantation bleeding, or we are just overworried. please help..thanks

I don't understand light negative.  On an hpt, there is a possibility of two lines.  You will always see one.  If there are two, no matter how light the second one is, then she is more then likely pregnant.  When I say the line is light, with my last pregnancy, I saw only 1/2 the line and it was barely visible.  I tested very early.  After that, it was a raging positive.

Pulling out is not a form of birth control.  The pre-*** houses an abundant amount of sperm.  Definately enough for pregnancy.  If you are not ready to be parents, then the two of you need to decide on a type of birth control method.  There are other types out there that are not condoms, although I would definately reccomend using those because they are the most effective of the non-pill birth control methods.

Good luck to you two

we do use the birth control pill. and the e.p.t test is either a positive or negative sign. it came out negative but i dont know how dark they are supposed to be.

what brand did you use? what were the exact directions?? some tests are different and show different results. however, if there was a line (no matter how faint) that is usually a pos.
post back w. the directions of the brand you guys used and tell us again exactly what you saw on the stick.
also, did she test 1st thing in the a.m.?

if she is on birthcontrol and if you did indeed pull out everytime, chances are slim she is pregnant. while it is true about the sperm being in precum, its pretty rare. not to mention, who knows exactly when you pulled out. you may have done so a bit inside of her in the heat of things and then pulled out? you also mentioned her having a period but they are usually light in flow. she would know her body best and be able to tell if its a normal period or something just isnt "right." my guess that it is all fine but i also dont understand the "faint negative".

I'm sorry, I read as she had been off b.c. for 5-6 months.

I would think she is ok.  That brand of EPT is stinky.  I can understand the confusion with that one.  If the two of you are concerned, I would try another brand. First Response, and Answer seem to work well and are pretty inexpensive. I would not be too concerned though.

Again, my apologies.  I should have read the posts twice before posting.

kjsk - the thing is if there is a minus (line) = negative and if there is a plus = positive. i just thought it was weird that the minus was so hard to see.

if a minus sign means negative then chances are it is negative. however, if you still are uneasy then have her take one more test.

I am a little worried.  I have thrown up about 3 or four times in the morning over the last 2 weeks ( or less).  I have not felt sick and have been fine after throwing up.  I am currently on birth control and I missed a pill last Sunday and took two the next day, like i am supposed to do.  But on tuesday I started spotting and I am now bleeding as if I am on my period but I am not supposed to get my period for another wek.  I took a first response test and it came up negative but I was bleeding when i took it.  Does that mean that the test is not effective?  I am very confused.  Please Help!!
