There was 20 pills i am currently still taking this medication, however i believe now i have a new problem I now have a yeast infection and i am married and I believe i have given my infection to my husband too, How can one prevent this reoccuring infections? what is the best treatment for the yeast infection?

I also have reoccuring yeast infections around menstration time why is this? How or what should i be doing differently? Is there other treatments for yeast than creams? I heard yogourt is a good source however i dont like yogourt but heard you can buy them in pill form do you know the name of it? or is there other ways to fight yeast infections?

It's very likely that you have a yeast infection if you have been taking Keflex (Cephalexin).

If you are not absolutely positive that's what you have (and if you've had a yeast infection before--generally it is obvious) you need to go to your GYN and find out for sure.  If you are sure you have one, most all of the over the counter treatments work very well--if you use them for the whole course of treatment.

I don't believe it is common for a man to harbor yeast like it is for women.  If he is having symptoms of something, he needs to see a doctor for proper diagnosis and treatment.

Be sure you are wearing cotton underwear and loose fitting clothes.  Do not douche unless instructed by your doctor.  If you menstruate, be sure you change your pad or tampon frequently.  Eating yogurt is supposedly good to restore your natural flora to the area, and that keeps the yeastie-beasties in check.  Keep trying it--it might grow on you.  Plain yogurt is best...I love it with a bit of vanilla extract and a packet of Splenda.

Remember--if you aren't sure you have yeast, see your doctor.  There are also pills the doctor can give you that are very effective.  It's also important to be checked for diabetes if you suffer from recurrent yeast infections--they are more common in diabetics.

Being on  antibiotics for a long time can cause yeast. The pill you can take to cure it is Diflucan It's only prescribed and you should take it when you're done with your antibiotics. If you don't like yogurt, get some AZO it has L.accidophillus that help balance out your good yeast and bad yeast. A man harboring yeast can happen especially if he is uncircumsized, if he does have it, you would keep getting it, treatment is the same for him as it is for you.
