infrequent periods
i have periods that come every 1 2 or 3 weeks inever go a month and when i do have a period it can last for weeks i blead all the way through my last pregnancy which ended with 32 week prem baby then i bled for a whole year i have had just about every form of medication you can think of i have had a scrape and a marina coil fitted for about 9 months now but this still hasnt helped the dr now wants to lazer inside but i am worried about doing this i would rather just have a hystorectomy and be done i also have thallassemia trait which makes me anaemic all this bleeding is making me run down any suggestions?

Are you through having children? Have you considered endometrial ablation? That's probably what your doc was referring to when he mentioned a laser. It's a less invasive procedure than a hysterectomy.

i was asking for suggestions as to ask for a hysterectomy or try the laser procedure everything else has so far failed has anyone else experienced this?

I had an ablation.  It was a simple outpatient procedure.  So far I have not had any more periods.

It's worth a try first, if your doctor thinks it will work.  There are certain conditions that can cause heavy bleeding that are not amenable to ablation, but many are.  There are also many different types of ablation.  I had a Novasure ablation and hopefully it will work for me.  If not, it was so easy I'll probably try it again if needed.  Certainly before considering a hysterectomy I'd try everything else first.  Especially this, as it was so simple.

thanks for the advice its just that i have been suffering for 8 years and am really fed up trying different things i will go back to the doc and see what he has to say
