irregular periods-will it cause infertility?

I started having irregular cycles starting in the year of 2000. about every 4 months it would change dates , but i realized that this was not a major problem.  my main concern started in my second year of marriage (which was 2005) it started skipping months at a time. now we want to start having children and we have been trying for over a year and i think that my cycle has somthin to do with why i have not concieved yet? because as of right now i have not had one in 3 months and this is not the first time this has happened. so i was wonderin will i be unable to have children.

Hi, for the past few years since I started my period which was at age 14, i have always had a cycle of 28 days, never late but always heavy.

In the past few months my period pain has increased and I have alot of blood clots and i mean ALOT!! each month seems to get worse, and my cycle has 27 days or 26 or 25 days, varys each month. For the past 4 months it stayed on 26 days, but this month I started 4 days earlier then the 26 day, so my cycle has changed again!! I don't know what could be the reason, we have been trying for the past year and 5 months.. but nothing as yet! could you give me any suggestions to what to do etc.. Many thanks

Irregular menses CAN affect your fertility! You should call your dr about it, but also start BBT charting. That will tell you if you are ovulating. I found out that I'm not ovulating, so my dr can treat the problem. DH and I have been TTC for 7 months after a m/c. Skipping periods can be a sign of annovulation. So call your dr and tell her whats going on and start taking your temp! Also read the book Taking Charge of YOur Fertility by Toni Weschler. It has a TON of information about your body in it. Good Luck!!!

I have irregular menses like you and like you mentioned it sometimes skip a month. For my 1st baby, when me and DH TTC, I got pregnant after the 1st try.  Recently, i found out the im pregnant again with the 2nd baby.  I too, still having irregular menses (at time, can go without menses for 50 over days) due to my nursing of my baby boy who is 18th mths old.  Once i stop nursing completely, i got pregnant immediately within the month. The most amazing part is that, i dun even remember whether i'm ovulating or not.

Irregular menses will not affect your fertility, you just got to monitor your own body, like other ladies have suggested OPK, CM, BBT etc.  Most important, dun give yourself too much pressure.  All the best to you and God Bless grant you every desire of your heart.

Have you BBT Charting, this will help to figure out when your ovulating.  IF you find out when you ovulate then you should BD everyother day.  But if your not having regular periods then you should go to the OB/GYN and get checked out to make sure nothings wrong. Then ask if you can have something to jumpstart your period....like provera.  I took it in Dec and Jan and now am 10w5d pregnant.  Best of Luck!!

If you're still ovulating then you still should be able to get pregnant. If you dont ovulate, then you need to see a fertility doctor.
... You should see a gyno about your irregular periods anywhoo. Maybe he can put you on something other than birth control to fix the problem.
Hope that helps!
