irregular periods

Hi! Was hoping for some advice. I've been talking to my gyno the past 2 months regarding my period. since Dec 4th it's been on a 20 days cycle. Yesterday I went for a visit and he prescribed the loestrin 24/FE. I'm 45 yo and have been battling terrible mood swings, anxiety, along with my cycle being off. He said my symptons are hormonal and probably going through peri-menopause. Can anyone provide any advice on this birth control pill if it will help with my mood swings, irritability etc? Also has anyone had weight gain or other symptons they've run into while on this bcp?

Hi!! My Best Friend is taking it...So far she feels great,,Says her libido has really went up!! which is great for her and her husband...She has not gained weight,,her doc told her that this is one that she shouldn't gain with..and she is 35,so that was a concern for her...hope that helps...Good Luck!!

Thank you so much, that makes me feel so much better.  I really didn't want to go on the pill at my age, but I just can't stand the mood swings and irregular cycle any longer.  I was hoping I wasn't going to gain much weight since I just lost 10lbs so hopefully it'll be the same for me too and I wouldn't mind the higher libido either, that I could definitely use! Thank you again!
