is this normal

I had just started taking camila a form of birth control (progesterone), for the last 5 months, since then my cycle has not been normal. Example, I will have a normal cycle with the heavy bleeding, and cramps. (normal to me) Then about a week to two weeks after I will start with some spotting, and turn to a little heavier sometime with cramps and sometimes without. Is this normal for the average woman. Or could it be something more serious. Thank you,
