itching in nipple

I have had severe itching on both my nipples and nipples appear lighter in color. Please advise on what this could possibly be and if I need to see a Dr.

Hello,
The first possibility is of nipple dermatitis. The other possibility is of paget’s disease of the breast. The first symptom is usually an eczema-like rash, usually only affecting one nipple. The skin of the nipple and areola may be red and inflamed which may itch or burn. I would suggest you to consult a dermatologist and get a mammogram and a skin biopsy to confirm the diagnosis.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.

Severe itching and skin discoloration are things to watch out for- so yes you should see a dr. Most likely you'll just need some sort of cream or something to calm the skin. But because it can be something more serious it's best to have a dr check it out.

I would say yes.  It could be something as simple as dry skin or perhaps a hormonal issue as well as other more serious things.  Or nothing.  If it is severe, I'd go ahead and see your doc.  Have you had a mammogram recently?
