it's taking forever to clear this yeast infection!!

I've already posted about this but I would like your ladies opinions again please.  As I am starting to get a little worried.
I went to the dr finally after a month and a half of irritation and itching that seemed to never clear or go away for more than a day (If that).  The dr. cultured the area, which is on the outside of my vagina, and she saw yeast when she looked at it under the microscope.  She gave me one diflucan and some cream to apply to the area.  I recently went back a week after my first appt because it seemed not to clear!  She said it was looking better, which is was, and the itching had basically stopped.  So she gave me one more diflucan and told me to stop the cream since that could be irritating it.  After I took that second diflucan it seemed like my symptoms were subsiding...until I itched it yesterday, and the redness was back, again.  I know I shouldn't have done that.  So now, it is still red.  And also, the dr. told me that my herpes test was not back yet, which freaks me out!  But she saw yeast so that's what it is right?  The irritation and itching never went away compelety for 2 months now.  And I have heard that herpes doesn't ever last that long.
Maybe I'm just stressing out over nothing.  But this irritation is really getting me down.  I have been skiping the gym because I don't want to irritate it anymore and I don't know what else to do?
Just wait it out and let the diflucan work?  Is this just a stubborn yeast especially since I waited so long to get treatment for it?
I would just like some other womans opinion.
Thanks ladies

If the yeast didn't respond fully to the diflucan,  your doc needs to culture you and get the strain id'd with drug susceptablities.  If you don't find out what kind of yeast you are battling, it's not going to get any better.  If she see's it in the scope, you should have no problem getting it cultured.  It's best nto to go though, if you have just treated yourself.

Some strands of yeast are resistant to certain antibiotics.  Hang in there, you'll get it right soon.  It was smart of your doctor to give  you a herpes test to completely rule that out as the cause of your symptoms. Herpes can mimic a wicked yeast infection.  But your right, herpes doesn't last 2months  straight.

My girl friend had 1 yeast infection after another. Turnout she was allergic to a number of things, like fungus (Cheese). She modified her diet and has not had outbreak since.

FYI Yeast is very common, what has probably happened is that your vigina flora is inbalance (missing bacteria, FI after taking antibotics) it needs to be rebalanced, this will take some time.
