iud removal - continued

ok in my last post....i posted that my strings of the iud seems to be in a knot, and i thought my uterous was swollen, well now my belly seems to be a little hard in my pelvic area and im having a weird sensation around my where my left ovarie is(or where i assume it would be located..and it goes a little down my leg,and its hard to describe the senation, not intense pain, but like rugbun, sort of tingly, has this happined to anyone? how common is it to become pregnant with the iud? (and to add, i havent had my period since the iud was inserted 8 weeks post pardom..and im also still nursing, so pregnancy seems very unlikely ..right?)

ps. i can not wait to get it removed, its driving me crazy ..

after reading all of these comments I must say it has to be the paragard.  I too have been having these pains in the pelvic area and lowerback.  My lower back pains are mild and extreme sometimes, when they are extreme I can hardly walk that is how bad they are.  At first I thought the pelvic cramps were because I was about to start on my period but it was too soon and it didnt feel like the same pain as when i am about to start it was a lot stronger the pain felt deeper within.  I had paragard inserted in mid August 2010 .  I am scared and want to get it removed definitely.  Who knows what else could happen in the long run and I am not going to wait to find out !!

thanks .... i im resting easy now since the chances of pregnancy are low...i will post what my doc tells me when i get it removed on fri...and also i find it some what odd that i hear a lot of people say they have become pregnant with the iud in place, and the doctor told me you have a better chance of getting pregnant if you get your tubes tied then with the iud.. shows you what doctors know i guess...thanks again

i really dont think im pregnant i just have been having some odd things going on and just hoping im not pregnant, i want to be, but being pregnant with an iud would be a scary thing, we are however going to try right after it is removed, it wouldnt be the worse thing in the world tho... if it didnt complicate the preg..ill keep you guys posted after i go to the doc...thanks everyone

yea i knew it would be hard explain whats going on....as for the weird sensation...that alone is hard to explain, and it might not even be related to the iud/swollen uterous thing

Are you asking if we think you are pg?
IUD inserted at 8 weeks postpartum, and you are still breast feeding....I highly doubt that you are pregnant.  I would get the IUD removed, as it seems that you are certainly uncomfortable with it!  Good luck!

Good luck with everything.  I am not very knowledgable with IUD's and pregnancy.  Hope everything works out for you!

I did get pregnant despite the IUD once and it did happen after the string had somehow almost disappeared internally. Chances for that to happen are apparently only about 3% and breastfeeding will reduce the possibility of a pregnancy a bit more, but you never know, a test will tell you. More importantly, tough: if you feel that your uterus is swollen and you have that one-sided stinging pain, the IUD could quite well have started causing an inflammation and the tip of it could be poking the uterus on your left side and cause that pain. I am just guessing by own experience but I would ask the doctor not only to remove the IUD but also check if any major irritation has occurred. I know a little irritation is intended with the IUD to avoid the implantation of a fertilized egg, but what you describe just does not sound right. As for pregnancies with IUD,
the exact location of implantation has to be figured out with ultrasounds to do a realistic assessment of to what degree the device would intrude into the developing fetus` space and how much damage could be done. In theory the IUD can be removed very carefully but chances are that the pregnancy does not survive this interference. Ectopic pregnancies do also occur more often with IUDs and once you have become prgnant with it, statistically chances are higher that you would get pregnant with an IUD again, thus it is usually removed anyway. Long story - unlikely you are pregnant but please get yourself checked out well. The last thing you need as a new mom is to have any inflammations. All the best. There`s always life after the IUD, do not worry.

Okay I might have some input on this. I have never been pg but my sister in law had a miscarriage and just after that it was like 6 weeks she ended up pg with twins. So you could be pg you might want to get it checked if I am wrong I am sorry I really don't know what the thing you were talking about is. But to be on the safe side I think if i were you I would get checked or just take a home test.
