by skyedawn, Mar 09, 2006 12:00AM
I have a question...I got my tube tied 8yrs ago...lately I have gained 15lbs in 1 month(NOT normal for me)...my breast have been sore and now today I leaked what looked like milk...could I be pregnant or is it normal to produce milk 8yrs(almost 9yrs)after having a baby?

I would definitely take a HPT to see if you are pregnant.  One of my son's best friends is the product of a woman who had her tubes tied.  They can come "untied" in some cases, just like men's vasectomies can sometimes reverse themselves.  Not trying to scare you, but lactation probably would not happen on its own.  If the HPT is negative, see your dr. about this as soon as possible.

I took a HPT lastnight...at first it was showing pos. but after 2 minutes it showed neg...should I trust it or wait awhile and take another one?

by PammySue, Mar 10, 2006 12:00AM
How long since your last period?  If you are late, then I would retake the test now.  If you're not late, then wait until you are and retake it then.  That's weird that the test showed pos and then neg after two minutes.  I would not trust that at all.  And in either event, you will probably want to make an appt. with your Dr.  Good luck and let me know how it turns out.

"lactation" can be a common side effect from medication that you are on.  Like the other posters said if you believe that the timing is right.  And Pregnancy is posible dig deeper and find out.  I was on a med that had that side effect, (and suffed from this particular side effect)so if you are on meds you should check out the side effects that are possible.

Thank you all so very much...I am on 3 different meds so I will check with my Dr. about this before I stress anymore...maybe thats all it is. I will let you all know what he says.

I am in the same predictament you are... I have had a tubal ligation (5 years+) and I started lactating.  So have you gone to the dr?

by pinkyjezebel, Feb 26, 2008 01:59PM
I too am NOT pregnant but continue to lactate.  Should I be concerned?

I am 21 years old an had an abortion about 4 years ago.  Two summers ago, I started to notice wet spots or yellowish stains on my pajama tops.  (Usually before my period is due) I'm able to squeeze my breasts and excrete a yellowish green liquid. It's not too dependable but I've experienced this occurence about 5 times

I am 17.I've never been pregnant. I've had my period twice since I last had sex so i can't be pregnant and i happen to be lactating from my left breast only. I can probably  fill a shot glass full of milk. I also have daily stains in my panties of white heavy fluids. What can this be?

i also have breast leaking .i dont want to scare anyone but mine was because of a pituitary tumor.have your doctor test your prolaction level.doctor said its normal to have some leaking.but to fill a shot glass is way to much.do they leak on there own or when squezzed?are your periods normal? please get your prolaction level checked i waited a year before i did and wished i did sooner.doctor can give meds to stop the leaking.hope this helps and i dont want to worry any of you.

I think you should all try make it to the doctor if you are worried. I have put on a lot of weight and my boobs have gotten bigger and I just started to lactate out of my right nipple. I am currently on my period but pregnant people can still have periods so I am going to go to my Doctor's ASAP. I think all who are concerned should do the same because it is the best way to find out what is going on with your body.

I am 18, never been pregnant but my fiance and I do not practice safe sex. I have been lactating, even leaking on some ocasions, for the past two months but all tests have been negative. I also have had some other pregnancy symptoms. tender and firmer breasts, mood swings, morning sickness, and my body is taking on the baby bump shape. Could I be pregnant with a negative reading or is my body having a hormonal disfunction?

i am a 21 year old male and recently (today) noticed yellowish discharge form both nipples. I have a 2 1/2 year old son and was very involved in his mothers pregnecy. I mention this because this discharge is very similar to prebirth colostrom. should i be worried?

I am a 26 year old woman with 3 kids, I had a tubal right after my last daughter about 2 1/2 years ago. Now I am having "light" lactation from both breasts and to go along with that both breasts are getting larger and firm, as well as some vaginal discharge that isn't normal for me. I went to the doctor - not pregnant, no STDs - but that doctor wasn't my normal and she talked to me as if I was a young girl just getting my first period. Apparently according to her everything is normal, I just need some verification. Is all this really normal, even if it is new/different for me? Could something be wrong with me?

Okay Im am freakin I had a tubal 4yrs ago. I have a regular 28 day cycle and 4-5 days bleeding. I started feeling"Pregnant"  2 weeks ago Breast extremly sensitive colostrum is visible if i touch my nipples. I have been constipated and honestly have never been unless prego. Tired  and  MOODY!! I took a HPT from my friend who works at a fertilty clinic it was POSITIVE!!! then Since I had a Tubal Ligation I was a little scared of Ectopic or something so I went to the doc there urine was NEGATIVE!!! Doc then ordered a blood test and a pelvic ultrasound

Im 18 and i have been lactating from one of my breasts for around 6-9 months. When it started my step mother and her best friend were also experiencing this but they have now both stopped. the reason they were lactating, we now know, was because my step mother was pregnant and they are really close. they expected me to stop too but it is still happening. My doctor took blood and told me that i have an hormonal unbalance and so they took more blood, i get the results on Wednesday. i am not particularly worried about this as they just told me to make a routine appointment to discuss my results.
if you have a negative HPT result but are still lactating i would suggest you go to your doctor.
i would also advise jakiepooh44 to visit the doctor. It is not unheard of for men who are extremely close to pregnant women to lactate but a second (more professional) opinion should definitely be on your to-do list.
best of luck, ill be sure to post the results of my blood test asap

I went, she told me that my hormones are a bit high. nothing to worry about. she had a quick feel and said everything was fine. she said it is the birth control pill Im on. i didnt think it would be this as i stoped taking it for 2 months to see if that was it but it carried on. apparently it can take a bit longer than that for this particular side effect to go. any way, good luck everyone x
