late period

I'm 21 and recently married. I have a few questions! My husband and I decided we wanted kids right away so I ditched my birth control pills (after having been on them 4 years) last month. I calculated when I should have gotten my period, which would have been Monday, it's now Friday. Being anxious and thinking yay! I already took a pregnancy test on Wed. It showed up neg. I have no signs of having a period, infact I had discharge last night that resembled cervical mucous (clear, stretchy, ect) I'm wondering what the chances are of being pregnant right after the pill, or the chances of having regular periods after stopping the pill are. I read somewhere it can take up to 6 months to resume your period, does that mean I couldn't get pregnant for that long?? Should I test again?
thanks!

I am 5 days late. I am experiencing cramps that come and go, milky white discharge but with no smell or itch, a little nauseous. Took a pt this morning and it was a faint positive, you could barely see the line but it was there. Do you think I could be pregnant.?

Your question is really hard to answer b/c every woman is different.  Some women have no trouble getting pregnant after stopping the pill, others take a while.  Because you were on the pill for so long, your cycle may be a bit off.  You're hormones may be figuring out how to regulate themselves.  I know you calculated when your period should have arrived, but that calcualtion was based on your cycle when you were on the pill, right.  It may be a different cycle now.  The cervical mucus you described actually sounds like you are close to ovulating.  Do you know for certain that you already did ovulate?  I think you should wait another week and then test again. If you continue to get negative results and AF doesn't show up  then you should see your DR.
