lump in anul area

Iam really concerned about a bump or kind of like a little ball i have on the outside of my anul area. No discomfort or pain. Just very nervous and a little  
scared. Im a 31yr female.

I had something like that once and it was a cyst.

A cyst. Im really scared. what was the outcome? Are you OK now?

Actually, it was pretty funny.  I had to go in to have a doctor look at it, and although I've had doctors look at all sorts of places on my body many times, I was just a bit embarassed to go in and shove my rear end into someone's face and ask them to tell me what it was.  So I washed really well and didn't go potty after that and went in and said, "Well, first of all I have to tell you I'm really sorry to have to make you look at this part of my body."  So we did the exam and the guy diagnosed it, and then gave me a novocaine-like shot (thank the lord using a tiny needle, so although it stung a little at first, it was not bad!), and then cut it neatly out, and gave me a stitch that wasn't going to need to be removed later (I guess he did some kind of fancy internal stitch) and that was about it. The whole thing took about 15 minutes. There are apparently a lot of kind of cysts that happen in that area, if you scroll down on this forum in the archives you might find a recent one that a lady wrote about her daughter.  Apparently they are usually benign, but they do irritate the bearer!

because im to embarased
to go doctors or to tell my mother!
im only 15 and im scared,
i thought it may be a cancerous lump
but i havent got a clue in the slightest what a cyst is ?
