lump in groin during ovulation

I am 28 years old. At 25 I discovered a lump in my groin area very similar to a hernia except it only showed up during ovulation, middle of cycle. I have seen many doctors who cannot diagnose it. It is 1 inch above pubic bone, 2 inches away from crease in leg.It shows up on left side only, sometimes back to back months but occasionally skipping a month. Due to the fact that this was unable to be diagnosed I tried to get pregnant. I took a ovulation test during the lumps occurrence which turned out positive. I got pregnant that month. The lump did not persist during the pregnancy or during breastfeeding. I did however have a complicated pregnancy due to a "sensitive uterus" I contracted from 28 to 38 weeks. The birth was induced but relatively normal with no complications. After breast feeding my cycle continued and the lump came back mid cycle. I have seen a hernia specialist who has never seen a hernia that was related to an ovulation cycle. He suggested a cat scan when the lump persist. It is random when it shows up. On an evening that it has been present but in remission (it was there 15b minutes ago) I cannot get it to show up again. I push, pull , bend, squat, you name it. It has no consistency except that it is always mid cycle. I had an ultra sound preformed, internal and external, with no results. I feels like a hernia would when you push it in and out. It seems to hurt more if I have been very active that day. It is lasting longer and becoming more painful. (It only hurts when it pops in and out.) It seems to be mostly gone in the morning and during the day gets worse and worse. My mom had a hysdorectomy at 23 for endomitrious. She also had a lot of cysts. I would like to have more children so i'm kinda in a rush to figure this out. If you cannot help please pass this to someone who might be able to. Thanks.

I thought mine was an ingrown hair or pimple because it has come and gone several times over the last few years;  however, I have noticed now, at age 47, that it swells into a lump more when I am having my period and during mid-cycle.  Anyone have any ideas???

That sounds exactly like what I have! I had a hernia operation for it last year...but it's still there! I don't think it's a hernia but I have no idea what it is. Did you ever find out anything more?

I would love to know if anyone has anything to add on this subject. I have the exact same thing. A massive lump appears mid cycle on my left side near groin and is usually gone between 10mins and 1 hour later. Ive had 2 c-sections so i wondered if it was a hernia but have so far avoided seeing gp as there is nothing to show them most of the time and i cannot predict when it will next appear. Bizarre. Just wondering if I should be worried?

Erin79, I know it's been a while since you've made your post, but did you ever find out what the issue was? I've been trying to research answers as I've been dealing with the same exact thing. Ultrasound and CT scan showed nothing.

Hey Erin,  well I suffered from endometrios for many years and run the full course of treatment from danazol, 4 lyproscopies, and the hormone replacement for the past 6 months which as only given me amonth  of rest from the pain.  So now about you lump I had the exact same thing and ended up having surgery to deal with it.  They thought it was a hernia and they were all ready to deal with that.  But to their surprise and not mine as told them what it was.  It was in fact a lymphnode that had been taken over by the endmetriosis.  It was loaded and this is way normal it appeared to find and un afind able expect during your  cycle.  As soon as the cycle went to do it.  Durning pregnancy and breast feading it remained gone.   So now years later it is back the endo and the lympnoed.  It found a new one to play with....so now it is also on my back, spine and bowel lining along with a new lymph node and the overies and uterus.  So my next step is a complete hysdorectomy what will remove everything.  they can.  I am still in a little shock, but really surprized and I think I expercted this to happen everntually but on that age 39.  So still thinking about it it is kinda scarry as it is a part of my life coming to a close.  a sign of getting older.   Any way sorry about the ramble.  It soulds like you have endo  so should should get help as soon as possible if you would like to have more children  good luck with this I hope that it helps your sitiuation and gives you some insight.
