missed period, recent D

I had a previous D & C on October 14,2 005.  My last period (which was very light) was on November 4th.  It is now December 27th and I have yet to have a period.  I went to the Dr. today and they did an ultrasound... my lining of the uterus is thick, but there is no sack to be seen.  However, I have had two positive home pregnancy tests.  The Dr. drew blood today and I am going back on Thursday for a follow-up...
Can I just be getting my hopes up?  Is there any way I am not pregnant?  What else could cause a thick lining of my uterus?

I think progesterone is what causes the lining of the uterus to thicken. If you had two positive hpts, but no sac was seen on the u/s, I wonder if you might have an ectopic pregnancy? With my ectopic, my progesterone levels were low, but that's not always the case. You would have a positive hpt, as well. I really hope that's not the case, though. Maybe your dr. will have some answers for you once your bloodwork comes back.
