sweety it is so much a womans issue! bc pills cause some to gain weight. i so need to shed a few pounds. my sis is a real go getter in the gym. she does cardio and wieghts. its a necessity in her mind to use both. and she lost 35+ pounds from childbirth in like 5 months. talk to your dr about it maybe your pills could be changed. from what i have read or heard walking 15 min wont get your weight off. maybe take up a sport like racketball with dh or something if the gym isnt for you. you will recieve many wonderful posts from the women here. very knowledgable, more than me!

I too an overweight, Im 24 and I have been heavy for most of my adult life.  I just started a diet a week ago.  Im very good at sticking to a diet once I actually get on one.  about 2 years ago I also went on a diet becuase I wanted to loose weight, so what I did was just ate a lot less, and at more veggies and fruits.  NO soda or juice just a lot a lot of water.

Exercise is a huge part also.  Get together with a friend and try and work out for atleast an hour a day.  I lost 20 LBS. in 6 weeks with that workout plan, plus I was also taking Trimspa, (its totally safe) and it gave me a lot of energy, so I was always working out.  So just try and stick to a plan, you dont have to go on these crazy "crash diets" that never work, its simple just eat less and move your body more.  It will really pay off.  I hope this helps you and good luck!!!

15 - 20 minutes isn't enough to lose weight - unfortunately! you need to do something cardio for more than 30 minutes before you start burning fat.  you're on the right track switching to 45 minutes.  if you can join a gym, adding weight training twice a week will help, too.  good luck :)

by Slw06, Oct 25, 2006 12:00AM
yea lol i prolly should switch to 45 min. if i go to the beach i could walk forever its so relaxing....  i have also tried the trimspa stuff doesn't really do anything for me. i was looking into the slimquick stuff has anybody tried it?! or read anythign about it?! thanks!

Honey, first get a quick thyroid check from your doctor, just in case.  Then, I would recommend Weight Watchers.  You get so much support there.  It is not required that you buy their products, you just go to meetings.  It is AMAZING when you are there -- here sitting next to you is a normal-looking person and she comments that she has lost 80 pounds.  The meetings are good, the topics are pertinent, the cost is not high, and the materials are good.  If you do what they say about things like portion control and balanced diet, you lose weight.  And you are never hungry or feel you are being deprived.  It is a good, sensible approach to eating.  Good luck!!!

Between a gym and Weight Watchers, my husband lost 30 lbs. in about  three months.

by Slw06, Oct 25, 2006 12:00AM
wow thats awesome i would like to lose at 50lbs. (alot i know) i think i can do it ( i hope)

Weight Watchers, its the only healthy way to go, you have to think about something that is sustainable, not a quick fix.

You could lose 30 or 40 pounds easily with many of the fad diets, but once you go back to eating like a normal person you gain it all back and then some.

Weight Watchers teaches you how to eat so that you can always eat like that, and you wont feel deprived or anything, the meetings are great and the support is amazing. Its also inexpensive.

First, glad to see you here.  I've missed you around here the past couple of days.
Doesn't is s*ck that men can lose ssooooo much weight so fast?  My husband can miss one meal and lose a pants size.  I can miss a month of meals and gain 20 pounds.

Original poster--I think you have the right idea, but I think that you need to kick up the walking.  I lost about 30 pounds walking after my son was born, and I maintain my weight that way.  I don't diet, I just exercise.  And, if I start to slack up, then I can tell it in my clothes, etc.

Start increasing to 30 minutes, then try to bump it to 45.  You'll feel great...and you'll notice immediate differences.  It may not be so much in pounds, but you'll notice in the way your body is shaped.  To me, that matters so much more.

I had one done...I use to wait 160 and Im 5'1 I know bad! lol and then started some diet..it was all about eating healthy only veggies, boiled stuff...chicken! no junk food ...drinks or even too much juice...just water and then some green tea...they told it helped to speed your metabolism...I did lose weight went down to 108..which doctor said was not very healthy for my height..so let's be real diets as bad as that! work for motnhs but come on who's gonna eat bioled chicken and veggies all their life?? lol so here I am back at 130...trying to keep the weight!
