i can't able to control my feelings for the past 2 weeks.
i am wondering is to okay to masturbate?

is there any complications on this masturbation.

It couldn't hurt, but you might not want to go into labor while your DH is out of town.

Well, I'm 70% effaced, no dialation. Dr. said that I won't dialate unless I contract. DH is out of town until he gets the call from ME! He is in a new job training program and can get a flight home lickity split if needed.
I'm 38wks 2 days, not horribly uncomfortable, I guess just lonely & bored...

monkeyflower...I love how you wrote your comment! It's funny when you're quite young you wouldn't dream of telling anyone that you have tried masturbation, but the older you get (and of course I don't mean too old for I am only 31) the less you care what people think of this issue!!!!

lucy: I wasn't trying to imply either that you are young, so please don't think I was being patronising LOL! I think it's a personal choice for anyone. Masturbation doesn't have to be secretive - you can use it as part of your sexual foreplay with your husband if want. I can't tell you how much that turns a guy on...more so than watching it the other way around (ie watching him!).

I think for me growing up catholic made me feel guilty for many years and just because you're married doesn't mean that you can't still do it. It's not like it's cheating - it's just a release of energy.

To the original poster: masturbation while pregnant is fine as long as you don't put anything 'unusual' inside you that may cause any damage. But I say go for it!!!

You've never masturbated? I strongly encourage you to give it a try, for many, many reasons. You'll learn a lot about your body, your sexual interests, your sexual response. You'll learn that you can rely on yourself for your own sexual gratification. You'll develop a more complete, comprehensive sense of self. It's fun. It feels good. It's healthy and it's good for you, physically and emotionally. You can do it anytime, anywhere (well, not in public), even if your partner isn't there. You'll deepen and grow your sexuality. Jeez, the reasons to masturbate are literally endless. I could go on and on :-)

I actually learned that orgasms during pregnancy strengthen the uterine muscles by contracting and releasing.  As a result, it can also prepare the uterus for childbirth.  In agreeance with the above, as long as you are not on bedrest or have been restricted from intercourse it should be perfectly okay...and normal.

A cushioning sac of amniotic fluid surrounds and protects the fetus when ur pregnant so there is VERY LITTLE chance of harming the baby.  Unless there are complications w ur pregnancy or ur dr. advises against it then go for it.  A woman's hormones can be stronger than a man's during pregnancy and I wouldn't be able to help myself.  (If i was having a healthy pregnancy of course)

well, i think you will get posts saying its ok but when i was pregnant i was one of those nerotic types. i read in "what to expect when you are expecting" that an orgasm can cause a miscarriage so i did not. i lasted until about my 6 mo and went ahead. well, i was sooo crampy and scared i did something to the baby. i felt guilty for days. it all turned out fine though!! i think if you are a high risk pregnancy then that's when it can cause a miscarriage. have fun! LOL!
