nipple itch

I am 19 years old, and for the past two weeks, I have been experiencing itchiness only on my right nipple. Scratching doesn't seem to help at all, the itchiness still comes back. This has never occured before, and I am still a virgin. What do you think is wrong? Is it a symptom of breast cancer?

And from different websites, i gather that it might be because of a new bra or a new detergent. But then i thought, if that was the case, why didnt my left nipple itch as well?

Plus, there is no nipple discharge, and i couldnt feel any lump.

Please help me.

Well from persoanl veiw, I have to the same thing. Actully right now... I had this come and go for years. I dont think it is major. But i dont know where it comes from. Sometimes i have the feeling to have to itch it, even if it is ichy... soo like it might just be random. But it can also be something serius, but i dont want to make you belive something is wrong. If you are like really concerned, you shuld see a doctor, or call in.... (:

If you do have a new bra then it's possible that a seam or a bit of thread or something is what's irritating only one side because the other side is sewn okay.

It's also possible that you may have nipple thrush.  It can happen just on one side.  You'd treat that with either the Diflucan single dose tablet or some antifungal cream on your nipple.

It could also be a form of eczema or dermatitis.  These can be patchy and can occur in one area only.

Might be worth a trip to the doctor.  You may just need a steroid cream.  You may be able to get a low dose one over the counter at the pharmacy but it's probably better that you get checked out.
