no baby

My husband and I have been tiring to get pregnant for a few months now
I went off my depo shot back in January. I had the last shot in October and was suppose to have my 3rd shot in January but decided not to have it to try to get pregnant.
I had my period the WHOLE time I was on the shot, I go off the shot and now I have had no period. I would ready love to get pregnant by the end of April. Is there anything that I can ask my doctor to do to help me ovulate or jump start my period.
Has anyone gotten pregnant after the depo without a period? Any ideas would be great.

Thanks,
AP

That is so very kind of you. thank you so much. I am glad that I have made a difference for your daughter. If there is a women I can save from going through what I have then it is all worth it for me. I am so glad that Sarah stood up for heself and has the education she needs to be right on track. It is great news to hear that someday when she is older she will be able to have children of her own with out complications from Depo.

love and hugs.....kimmie

Kimmie and the information she has graciously provided is the NUMBER 1 reason why my daughter Sarah refused to try Depo even though she was suffering with severe menstrual bleeding and all the Docs were encouraing her to try it.. She would just tell them... "But I read..." And when they realized that everything coming from her 16 year old lips was well thought out and educated, they would stop pushing her. I did show her Kimmie's postings, but she kept going back to read more on her own. She has taken control of her body and thanks to the information we have learned here, and a considerate doctor, she is doing fine now with NO medication whatsoever!
Just wanted to say THANKS Kimmie!! You ARE helping people!

P.S. a doctor won't touch you to help you PG after depo for 12 months min cuz the drug makers warning says that it takes 12 months min to regain fertility. so even if you were never told about this they make you suffer....it is horrifying that a medical professional will make women suffer this way unknowingly.

i will do my best to answer anything for you I can. I am truly sorry someone gave you this drug. I am a depo survivor and my goal is to help others get their dreams even if i never get mine.

I was on depo for 7 yrs.....it takes 12-18 months to leave your body after ONE SHOT. it has also cause 7 miscarriages for me and left me infertile and needing clomid to get PG. Depo also caused me many other heartaches that are unspeakable. I have been TTCing for 14 months and had 4 losses because of the depo. I have a website and group that deals with this if you are interested in more info. The group is for all pregnant, trying to be PG, and parents. I have lots of info about Depo as well. unfortunately you probably won't see a period for at least 6 month and not begin to ovulate again for 12-18 months. I actually ovulated on my own exactly 18 months off depo. Depo is NOT like other BC that takes 1-3 months....it takes years to get out of you and is stored for up to 5+ yrs in your fat cells.

contact me for more info at ***@**** will be more than happy to give you every piece of knowlege I have. i am a nurse and have a double degree in Bio and Chem....i know what this drug does and it is not user freindly.

Birth control puts your body through a bunch of changes. Your putting something unnatural in you and it confuses your reproductive system... It will take some time to get back to normal. When I got off the pill, it took a year to finally get normal regular periods... Just like with ANY drug, it has side effects.

Okay the first time I got off depo which was in 2002 I got pregnant within 1 month of being off of it and I didn't really have a period so I am assuming that, that time it was implantation bleeding. This time I'm off of it I was suppose to get my shot in February and still no period. What I have been told is it takes up to 3 months to start getting your period again. So I'm in the same boat as you are. We want another baby but, just palyin it by ear. I wish you the best of luck it could take several months 12-24 months some women on here are telling me. I hope you get what you want.

Depo can really do a number on your cycle so you will probably just have to be patient for a while.  Just a word about the TTC thing, patience is the name of the game!  Even the most fertile couple has a 20%-25% chance of conceiving each month.  On avergage it takes 6 mos to 1 year to acheive pregnancy.  I know that sounds discouraging and it can be beyond frustrating!  DH & are in month #8 and it's making me crazy.  That's just the way it is though.  Start looking up as much info as you can on fertility and increasing your odds.  This is a great place for support b/c there are a lot of us in TTC land.  Oh, and about your cycle, you might want to look into taking Vitex/Chaste Tree Berry.  It is an herb with an excellent track record of regulating cycles and increasing fertiltiy.  Best of luck to you!

Both times i was on depo (first time for 3.5 years, second only 2 shots) it took me 12 months to gte pregnant. It takes while to work out of your system, sometimes as long as 18 months. I didn't have a period at all while on it, my cycles returned a few months after I was due for the next shot.

Good luck!
