Could be allergies, irritation from colds or dry heated air, or in some cases a need to have an exposed blood vessel cauterized by a dr. The membranes-lining inside the nostrilNostril nasal decongestant becomes thin. Humidifiers help as well as salineSaline laxative Transvaginal ultrasound nasal sprays. My dad's dr told him to use vaseline in the nostrils because he is an asthmatic and can't be around high humidity. If he's tried some of these things and still has nose bleeds, he should go see an ent specialist to check it out. good luck to him.
wow i didnt know allergies could be the culprit, dh has bad allergies through out the year, not to mention he works out in the elements, digging in the dirt and such(he puts the electrical and plumbing in swimming pools) and also we live in a valley thats notoriously dry, i dont know why i didnt think of that, i was so worried something was terribly wrong! ill have him start with the vasaline and saline and see if it gets better, thanks youve really made me feel better!
My DH is 24 and since I've known him, he has always had bad nose bleeds, sometimes so bad I'm afraid he will bleed to death!! When he was younger his doc told him that with age they should decrease..But he is no longer a teenager and he still gets them every now and then..His father used to have them bad too as a young person, as well as his older bro...The doc also told him it could be a heriditary(SP?) thing..Also, he is affected more in the winter/spring months, when it is cold outside and he comes into a really warm place, he gets them, and seems to have them on and off for a few days until it heals up there. They arn't as bad now.
Have him get an appointment with an Ears, Nose, & Throat doctor. He might have to get referred by his regular family doc first.
They will cauterize the tiny vessels that are at the surface and breaking so easily. They do it all the time. I had chronic nosebleeds for over a year and had them cauterized. It was really easy and my problem is solved.
thanks everyone, i want him to go to the doc, but he is just so stubborn, he agreed to take a vitamin k supliment and use the saline and vasaline, so i guess if that doesnt work in a few weeks ill have to strap him down and make him go! lol
Hey you....
How have you been?
My youngest son and my husband both suffer from nose bleeds.
My husband throughout his childhood was always going to the dr to get his nose cauterized.
My youngest has to go now and again for the same procedure...
I noticed it is def worse in the winter....with the dry weather and the heat cranked in the house.
My husbands seem to slow down in the summer...although he does suffer from allergies.
Who knows what it's from but if he does go in....it may stop...cauterizing does work for sometime.
But if he won't go....vasaline should help a bit too.
PS...still waiting for your I AM PREGNANT POST !!!!!
