numb fingers at night after heavy digging

Hi can anyone shed light on why after digging for 5 hours (not doing this regularly) I had numb fingers and achy elbow and wrist whilst in bed. When I got up they seemed to get better, occasionally returning when driving. I guess the steering wheel is about the same diameter as a shovel.???

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
The numbness that you are having are due to compression of the superficial nerves. Just take some vitamin B12 or gabapentin after prescription from your doctor and you should be fine.
It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.

A nerve could have been agitated while you were shoveling, especially considering you're not used to digging for five hours.
