numbness in lower half of face

I have some numbness in the lower half of my face, not always constant, and wondering what could be the cause.  I'm seeing my dentist for xrays because this sensation happened 2 years ago when I got an infection in a root canal.  I did see a neurologist and she put me on an rx for Neurontin.  I also had the feeling (still do) for some surgery to remove basel cell cancer on my upper right forehead.  My only other thought that extreme anxiety/stress/depression could be a contributor?
