ovarian cyst and pregnancy

by momof 1, Apr 27, 2006 12:00AM
I have a simple cyst which is 5 cm, I am interested in trying to concieve. My obgyn said to go ahead and try, and that we will check on the cyst in about 6 weeks.  I don't have any pain, and just finished my period. My question is, if I get pregnant, what will happen if the cyst does not dissappear, and also, can the cyst prevent me from getting pregnant.Should I wait to get ptegnant, or is it safe to try now despite the cyst??  plz help

Hi... I have 3 children.  When I was pregnant with my third child, on my very first sonogram, they saw a cyst - the size of an orange on my ovary - which means it must have been there before I got pregnant, too.  I got pregnant and had a very normal pregnancy - and a perfect birth of my son.  He's now almost 11.  The cyst, by the way, was removed surgically a few months after he was born.  They did laproscopic surgery and it wasn't bad at all.  You should be fine, too.

I also had a cyst the size of an orange that my doctor found on my 8 week ultrasound. She said it had been there for a while most likey. It never caused me any problems and when I had my c-section, my doctor actually physically inspected my ovaries and it was gone!
