I'm 27 years old and seem to have a continous problem with dermoids and cyst in general.Dr appointments when younger always showed several small cyst. Usually went away. At age 24 I had my left ovary removed and 4 dermoids taken off the right. 3 years later I now have a "complex mass" on my right ovary. I don't want kids. One Dr. said he would take out the ovary but I have to wait because the surgery schedule is full. Another has all but said he wont because it may cause further problems if I dont have a full hysterectomyHysterectomy Hysterectomy - series. Of course his schedule is open. My question is, Is it MY choice? Can I demand they take it out so I dont have to do this again in 3 years?
The cyst I have now is about 6.3cm as of yesterday. An u/s from a week ago showed it as being 5.2cm Its growing and it hurts. I'm kind of surprised that its been causing me a lot of trouble these past 3 months (pain during intercourseCauses of painful intercourse Sexual intercourse - painful and orgasmOrgasmic dysfunction <- thats what got me to the Dr.) The others were larger and went unoticed 'til it started to ruptureAortic rupture, chest x-ray Ruptured eardrum Tracheal/bronchial rupture. Does anyone know what my rights are? I cant seem to find any answers and I'm going broke and crazy from these Drs appointments.
Of coures it is your right to decide what happends to your body. You do need to be totally informed of what this will mean for your life though. You say you don't want kids and this surgery will mean none you can birth, but there are other options that you can decided later. Your health is the most important though. If this new cyct is growing that fast and there could be more I wouldn't leave it. I have cyctic overies as well and they have caused me more problems than I could comment on. If I had one that size and it keeps happening I would get it removed. There are far more complications that could happen if you don't. As for the hyster, that I don't know about. Are you on the pill? Have you tried any other hormone therapy to help with the cyct problem? Do you have other options before giong the majorMajor tears Major-gesic move because that will throw your body into early menopause and at 27 that may be a lot to take. Things to think about there are Do you have a good supportSupport Support 500 system around to help you with the hormanal imbalances you will face as well as the emotional changes that are sure to come?
There are places you can go to talk to Dr's and nurses who deal with this all the time. Try places like planned parenthood and some free clinics around. remember that it is your body and your health.
