pap test and pre-cancerous cells!!!

I am not 2 sure if this is the right place to post my question...but hopefully someone can help..
I can start by telling my problem... last summer i was told by my OBGYN that i had pre-cancerous cells due to hpv, after having a pap and colposcopy to confirm.
in october i had the conization treatment(procedure to cut out the portion with the bad cells)i was told after that all was ok and that the bad pre-cancerous cells were taken out.but that  i had to come back in 6 months for another pap (6 months for 2 years)
my question is what are the chances that i will get a good result after my next pap?
i am REALLLY freaked out by this.. and i am hoping to be able to get pregnant in the near future...
thanks for any answers that can help...

I have had three abnormal paps in three years. Each time was precancerous. I have the treatments where they removed the cells and it never failed they always came back the next year. Can I get chemo and a hysterectomy to solve this? I know it sounds drastic but every year is really getting scary. I'm afraid one time it's going to progress past that pre stage. Can't I do these treatments now and nip it in the bud?

Hi. I too have had the pre cancerous cells. I am now 28, but at the age of 16 I had my first child and that is when they found them. I had the procedure where they froze the cells. I have had repeated paps and they have all came back normal. I have also had another child since the procedure and everything was and has been fine since. I would not worry too much as long as you go in and have regular paps.

Hi there...I've had the same problem.
But I had the cryotherapy...the freezing to remove the bad cells.
I too have to get a pap every 6 months.
The chances of bad cells reoccuring are less than 5%....or so i have been told by my dr.
Although already being through it....the dr. did say that our chances are higher because the virus..if thats what caused the cells to become precancerous is still in our bodies.
I just had my pap last week and i am hoping and praying things are normal.
I'm sure we're both fine.
Good Luck!

I have had this problem since 2004.  My paps after my dd were born all came back abnormal.  I had a LEEP done in 2004 and the cells came back, they were making their way up into my uterus.  My doctor said they may just go away on their own.  I was only 18 mind you.  So my doctor said he couldn't just keep chopping away at my cervix or I'd never be able to carry another baby.  Finally over 2 years later my paps starting coming out normal again.  Good luck!

Try not to worry too much.  I had the same thing, the colposcopy and conization.  I went back every 3-6 mos the first year and now once a year and I'm fine. Paps just hurt more from the scar tissue at first.  I don't know if it would affect carrying a pregnancy.  I do remember before the procedure my doc asking me if I intended to have anymore kids.  Then she said oh, don't worry about it, you'll be fine.  She just told me she sees no problem with me getting pregnant.  So don't cause yourself extra stress by worrying.

There are plenty of women that get abnormal pap smears. I have had 2 myself. They monitored mine and they went back to normal. My best friend had one and they removed the cancerous cells and she's had a normal pap ever since. It is a pain to have to go back and forth to the doctors but its for your health. Just keep up with it. You may never have an abnormal pap again. As for you having a baby in the future, as long as your pap smears are normal you should be fine.

I'm sorry you're going through this. I have not had it happen to me, but two of my very close friends have. Both had the cells removed and get annual pap and so far all has been normal. One friend had to get checked every 6 mos for a couple of yrs, but is fine, no recurrance.
