Hi there.  Well, the brown stuff is old blood.  However, if you also have a fishy smell, I'd say you may have picked up bacterial vaginosis.  I think you need to go back to the doctor as that requires treatment and they may put your boyfriend on the same medication as this can be passed back and forth.

I'm concerned that you aren't having periods but two times a year.  Why does your doctor say that is the case.  Women should have a cycle every month.  I had periods every three months and it turned out that I had hypothyroidism and too much estrogen production as the reason.  There is always a reason why a cycle is irregular like this.

are you very underweight or work out extensively?  Amenorrea can happen under those conditions too.

So, go see the doctor about the fishy smell and discharge and get another pelvic discussing why you are not menstruating normally.  good luck

Hi there and welcome.  Dear, i really really think you need  a pelvic exam.  Two periods a year with spotting is abnormal.  the brown you are seeing is spotting of old blood.  Between the pain and lack of period, I would make your way to a doctor for a thorough exam.  good luck
