Well I suppose you could, but you should not for hygiene reasons, amongs others. Also when you get out of the pool you may be embarrased by blood running down your leg.
yes you can...i always make sure that i take 1 with me, so i can use it after i get out...i NEVER use tampons depending on the day of my period...or, if i know i'm going to go swimming at a specific time, i'll take out the current 1 and put another in, but wear it for only 2 hrs or so, so it gets the most flow, then take it out and go swimming...just make sure you have something for afterwards...

No, No, No! You cannot go swimming without a tampon if you are on your period.
You cannot guess menstrual flow and attempt using sanitry towels as periods are unpredictable. Also because everyones flow differs and if you do end up leaking it is not decent to have your period washed into the pool.
