plastic surgery or pregnancy right now?

by boosty, Apr 21, 2007 12:00AM
hi everyone. i am having a big problem. i am 26 years old and have a two year old daughter. very badly i want to have another baby. but even more desperate to have my old figure back. i am now 5"4 and 152 lbs. i hate that. i have pcos that i just got diagnosed with. so thats one reason that i have gained weight. but my question is that today i saw a plastic surgeon for a consutation and i really wanna do a tummy tuck and a bunch more stuff that i want to have a better body . my self esteem has gone down the drain since i went from a 120 to 152. everyone who knows me really is happy that i am able to do this for myself now. i have totally felt like an old woman cause i havent taken care of myslef since i gained weight. but i know i will want to get pregnnat again in less than two years. i wanna knwo if i am waisting my money if i have the surgery and in a year or two get pregnant. the reason i am rushing this is becasue i knwo  that i will be too busy to do this for myself if i dont do it now adn get pregnant now instead. doesn anyone know anyone whos had a tummy tuck and got pregnant after and if its safe? thank you guys sooo much. this will be my first cosmetic surgery and i need lots of advice. thank you.

well the two wants are polar oppisites.. you have to do what you feel is the right thing to do right now.. as far as plastic surgery, and i can say this because I am in the medical field and have actually worked side by side with dr who does gastric bypass, and I know this is different then what your doing. bottom line, you have to conform to a certain kind of life style as far as eating goes, if you dont, you will gain weight, you will not be in shape, just putting that out there to you .. hope you get what you need

well if you want another child you are crazy to have a tummy tuck now. it will be a waste of money and pain. im sure your dr will tell you this at your consult. you are young and if you work your butt off at the gym you can get your old body back. you need to work on your self esteem with other means than plastic surgery right now. just my take on it.

perty is right.

I definitely agree with perty, too. Typically you will gain more weight with the second and so on with more stretch marks, etc. I'd save the money and use it on diapers. Best wishes to you.

hi. thank you all for your comments. i am married. and i am not too overweight but the first pregnancy, left my belly hanging and deformed. thats why working out and losing weight wont fix my figure. i will need a tummy tuck. i dont have any help taking care of my child so leave and go and work out. i wish i could. i eat very healthy. in fact, i have kept my weight exactly at 152 for four years now and before i got pregnant , i was 152 and after my deliver i was still 152. i gained a total of 25lbs during my pregnancy and it came right off. but i had gained weight before all that my doctor says its probably because of my pcos. i will be good at keeping the weight off. the plastic surgeon said that since i wanna have kids again, he will have to do the tummy tuck not as tight as normal so i have room to stretch later. i dont know. in the past few days, i have decided to hold off for a few years. i really would rather have my second child now and take care of myself later. it really is not worth waisting money. then maybe i can work out most of it somehow and get my tummy tuck to get rid of hanging skin. thank you so much for your help.

my stomach will never be the same either. you know its a choice that you will have to think about. i know i would hold off on the surgery for now. just to make sure after they can tighten as much as they can lol.

I am currently 5 minths pregnant after having had a tummy tuck 4 years ago.  I was thrilled with the tummy tuck and had decided with my husband that we wrer done having children, however like I said 4 years later we are now expecting again.  So far my tummy is still good.  I am a lot smaller than I was in both of my other pregnancys and I have not gotten any strech marks as of now.  I will comment that my tummy loos a bit unusual to me the rounder part is on the top and I am a bit flatter on the bottom by my pubic area.  I was a bit concerned but the Dr. reassured me that it is because the muscles are swone so tight but will still allow the baby to grow.  At this point all is normal and  as a matter of fact I have been feeling fetal movement since early in my 4th month!!!!  Good luck no matter what you decide!!!
