please help

Me and my fiance have been trying to get pregnant for about 5 months now and so far nothing. But about 3 weeks ago, I started getting pregnancy symptoms: swollen and tender boobs, mood swings, increased appetite, some things tasted different than usual, fatigue, headaches, and all around I felt different. Well I started spotting a few days before my expected period (after having all these symptoms) I kind of brushed it off like it was nothing. Now, im on the day of my expected period and im bleeding extremely light. Its not as light as spotting  but pretty close. Im just confused as to why I would be bleeding but also feeling all of these symptoms. Ive taken 1 at home pregnancy test and it came up negative but it was probably too early to tell in the first place. Does anyone know why I feel like this and why im not having a regular period?

Thank you. I really appreciate the input. My mom had her period with all 4 of her kids for the first trimester as well. So that's why im a little confused as to why I would spot before my period then have a lighter period than usual. I will definitely make sure to take another pregnancy test. Im crossing my fingers!

Yes probably to early to detect if your really are pregnant.  Wait a week and take another test.  Different things can cause an irregular period.  Working out really hard or stress can cause it to be irregular. Having all those symptoms and then spotting a few days before your period came could of been implantation bleeding.  Some women will have a light period in the first trimester.  So good luck and take another test 7 days from your last test and see what results you get.
