pregnancy test neg but still no period

I'm at least 10 days late and that's really rare for me. I've been hoping that it's because i'm pregnant and i've been super excited about it but just this morning i took a hpt and it was negative. I've been crying all day and i can't seem to get myself together. I can't think of any other reason that my period wouldn't have come by now. How early can a blood test detect pregnancy? should i make a doctors appt? or should i wait a while longer?

make an appointment with your doc and get a blood test done. if you're pregnant the hcg may not be detectable in your urine or you could be getting false negatives. what brand test did you use? i know that usually doesn't matter BUT maybe you had a bad test and could try a different brand if you don't want to go to the doctor.

Most preg tests are very sensitive and accurate at picking up pregnancy the first day of a missed period. You could request a blood test at this point for a definite answer. Often times a very delayed period or missed period can indicate that ovulation did not occur which in turn causes your hormones to be wacky for that month. Your doc can prescribe prometrium to bring on your period.
