Some tests are more sensitive than others and advertise that you can test before you miss your period. Like 5 days or so but are more accurate the closer you get to missing or having missed period. But why waste the money when you are on birth control and not even late yet? I admire how supercautious you are, but given the fact that you have been on BC for a lengthy amount of time, and are not late for AF, I really think you are worrying prematurely. If I were you, I'd save my money at least til I was late.

You have to read the boxes but you can take First Response Early Result up to 5 days before you miss your period.  But if you read the box you will see that it's only about 60% accurate at that time.  If you can stand to wait then all brands become very accurate the day you miss your period.  I got my positive the day after I missed my period, with the Answer brand.

The best thing I did was to buy a Clearblue Easy digital test.  It says PREGNANT or NOT PREGNANT...it is so much easier than trying to figure out if there's a second line there,  or wondering why it's so faint, etc...  My first two tests were so iffy and so we got a digital and sure enough, it said PREGNANT.  The first two tests I did were on the day I missed my period...and they were still very faint.  Everyone is different, but I'd suggest you wait until you've missed just one day.  Good luck!

For a most accurate reading, my doctor recommends that you wait to test until you are a week late.  That way, you also can't trick yourself into thinking you just tested too early when you get a negative.  Who needs extra heartache?

I am not pregnant or trying to get pregnant, just curious as to how many uses do you get from the new digital pregnancy tests? Are they one use? Or like a digital thermometers where you can use them over and over again? Man I would've killed for one of those things like 17 years ago.LOL
Just wondering--J

Nope, just a one time thing, like all other HPT's. But, each kit comes with 1-3 sticks. It is kind of complicated (yet not, lol) there is the test holder, which actually has the display on it. And like i said there are a varied number of test sticks in the kit, depending on what you need. You open the test stick (looks similar to an HPT) stick it into the test holder, the little window tells you when it is ready, then you either pee on it or hold it in a cup o' pee. Set it on the counter, the icon will start flashing to let you know it is working and within 3 minutes you will have your result. It will only let you test once per hour, you cannot reuse the same test stick and once the test sticks from that kit are used, the holder is worthless.

One thing with those that proves to be an issue for OCD testers is that when you pop the test stick out, there is a windo on it, again much like a regular HPT, but even though two lines may be there, if the diplay on the holder says not pregnant, you aren't. Apparently a lot of women were wigging out about it, so they have been trying to publicize that little tidbit.

They are pretty cool tests, I used mine to confirm what the answer test told me a few years ago when I got pg with my youngest. It didn't take but a few seconds for Pregnant to pop up on the display!!

Wouldn't it be great if they had some sort of HPT that was reusable, but then again the other businesses would go bankrupt, how often do we see women sinking a hundred dollars of more into them on a regular basis? Heck, I have done it myself!!

It's actually a terrific idea. The same way you can buy your own diebetic (diabetic) testing supplies. The meter is like a hundred bucks and you just have to spend money on the test strips and lancets. If a woman who was really trying wanted to spend a hundred bucks in one pop, AND they will, then they could charge a small amount for the replacement test strips to go into the meter. I sure would have made that investment years ago. Back when I was trying, the HPT's were like 20 bucks a piece. Women would still buy the 10 or 20 dollar kits. It would mainly benefit those who don't get pregnant after the first couple of tries.
You know, now that we have put this idea out there, watch them start showing up on the store shelves. LOL It is a good one!
