Hi there and welcome.  Well, I'm trying to follow your post.  Your period, you believe, was due the 24th of January?   So you are 7 days late?  Is that what you are saying.  Or you were due for your period on Dec. 24th?

Here is how a woman's cycle works----  the first day of your period is cycle day 1.  Then  you start counting from there.  Most women ovulate around the 14th day but this can also be unpredictable so the most fertile time is day 10 of a woman's cycle to day 20.  I want to say though, it is foolish to have unprotected sex ANY time during your cycle if you don't desire pregnancy.   Always use protection!!

If you period was due the 24th of January----  well, you could just be late.  sometimes a woman will have an off cycle or two.  This could be due to illness, stress, weight gain or loss, depression/anxiety, hormonal changes or nothing at all and it just happens.  I had a slow thyroid which often made me late.   I'd wait another week and go ahead and test for pregnancy again if you've had unprotected sex and are worried.  but I'd do what the doctor says and just wait and see what happens.  good luck

Oh, and by the way, many doctors do not see newly pregnant women at all until they are 8 weeks along.  They typically do not do routine pregnancy tests when a home test is negative because those are extremely accurate.  They'll make you wait until a positive home test happens.  It HAS to happen to be pregnant as it tests for the hormone a growing fetus creates.  good luck
