pregnancy

are you more likely to get pregnant if you have sex on the day of ovulation as opposed to that myth that sperm lives in your body for five to seven days

X sperm (female) live longer but are slower swimmers.
Y sperm (male) die off quicker but are faster swimmers.

The Female produces eggs that obviously carry the X chromosome only so when it joins with one of the above it creates either XX (female) or XY (male) chromosomes. Good luck!

I read in a fertility book that the sperm's life and conception determine the sex of your baby. now I just can't remember, is it boys or girls that are the result of a long living sperm, as opposed to if you had sex and concieved within 24 hours

I went to the doctor the day I should have been ovulating and he told me as well that you do have a better chance if you have sex the day before you ovulate, and to try every other day.  Good luck to you!

It is not a myth it truley is you may have more sucess with sex the day before you are supposed to ovulate that way as someone else put it the sperm is waiting for the egg not the other way around. Good luck and Baby Dust

Congrats on TTC!  Just a funny story of my experience TTC.  We tried for about 6 months doing the deed as often as possible. We even tried one month doing it every night!  Around the fourth month of trying I got discouraged and we only tried about 6 times...  The fifth month we got back in the groove and tried for fourteen days.  During the sixth month I gave up and we only had sex two times...  One in the beginning of my cycle and one at the end.  (You know you are commonly supposed to conceive sometime in the middle of cycle.)  I conceived that month!  Amazing how God knew I could not handle the wait any longer.  I am now 36 1/2 weeks and dying to labor!  Good Luck!
