I am 53 and experienced  the same symptoms my entire adult life. I think it is definitely from the hormone changes associated with ovulation. I tried everything, yeast infection pill, diet changes, etc. Then I tried Replens. It's a lubricant and helped me immensely. I ovulated this month after 2 years with nothing. Guess what returned? The ITCH! Went to buy some new Replens today. I wish our GYNs knew more about this instead of blaming it on so many other things. Best Wishes!

Hi ladies!
I have had the horrible itch for many months now, by now Ive understood that it is correlated with the ovulation...
Seen few docs and no help. the tests have been ok, still have been on antibiotics and some nature treatment (urinal- cranberry, chamomile and soda douche..coconut oil..) coconut oil and some fungal (yeast) efection creams have gave some relief, but with horror and sadness the same hell starts again every month...
from here i got idea that perhaps endocrinologist would be good idea indeed, to see about my hormones...
my mother died with endometrium cancer, so I am paranoid.

Many steps, but it works.
1. If you are already burning because you scratched. A thin schmere of hemorrhoid cream. (Skip if possible)
2. Liberally apply Dermatrim from Melaleuca to labia. OTC jock itch cream works in a pinch but I think the tee tree oil in the Dermatrim has something to do with it. I use a Hitachi magic wand massager to get the cream into my skin. Just fingers doesn't do it. Continue til it absorbed. Focus on labia. Avoid orgasms. I keep my legs closed and have the massager hit just my outer labia.
3. Apply liberally Eros silicone gel. Masturbate to orgasm. I usually fall asleep from exhaustion but doesn't seem to be necessary. ( other lube MIGHT work if its silicone. I think the orgasm is necessary because it corrects some imbalance. No orgasm it is less effective.
4. Take a very hot shower or bath. Some of the Eros will likely remain.

I usually do this every month when I ovulate once. Sometimes I need to do it two days in a row. I no longer getting the itching so bad that it would keep me in bed for at least a day in embarrassment. Had the problem for 40 some-0dd years. Found this solution about 5 years ago. Always works if I take the time to do it.

I'm getting married and trying exteremly hard to get pregnant, but all I can think about is this itch...and how to keep it a secret from my fiance... I've been tested for everything, all came up negative. Is there any relief?

I went through something similar a few years ago. They ended up diagnosing me with vulvadynia which is basically what they call it when they can't find another cause. It can present in different ways but what I have found is that my Vulva has extremely sensitive skin, more so at different times of the month. Avoid all soap products in the bath or shower, try a product called pinetarsol gel to wash the area and salt and vinegar baths help. Cotton only undies and at home try to go without underwear when there is a flair up. It takes time to feel better and I still suffer from mild bouts but now I know how to treat it it is much milder. You may also need a cortisone cream if very inflamed. Hope that helps

Hi. I never write on these blogs but after reading what you wrote felt compelled to do so.  I have had all the symptoms you gave described and more.  And they seem to disappear after I start my period.  I have tried many antidepressants and have come to despise them.  I truly believe it it not depression but hormones as well.  Please let us know what happens at the doctor.
Thank you

I have been having this same itching for more then a year. I have recently been having severe PMS like heart palpations, depression, panic attaches, breast tenderness, very tired head aches and so on but write after my period I am fine. They think it is PMDD (BUT THAT IS HORMONAL) I have been to many doctors that want to put me on antidepressants but I am not depressed the more itch it is down there the worse my symptoms become I am 31 years old and with two children and a wonderful husband I have a wonderful life of course with some hiccups but all in all I am happy. I have seen over five doctors all of witch refused to take my hormone levels I have finally found someone to take them and go on Monday THANK GOD. Check this out my OBGYN told me my insurance wouldn’t pay for it the (hormone test) because I am too young to be going into menopause. I do think that I have serious issues with my hormones and I am tired of all these so called doctors taking the easy way out and just prescribing meds that you may not need (I know some do I am not knocking it) I am suffering and they are telling me NO. Please any women out there suffering the way I am just remember YOU know your body please don’t let anyone tell you, you are crazy or what ever keep on pushing until you get your answer. I will write back after I get my test results please pray I get my answers.
God bless

I had suspected chest infection and was put on amoxicillin for 5 days. A few days after, I thought I had developed vaginitis (possibly for taking antibiotics), there was no discharge. I put on cream. It didn't work.
I then bought a yeast infection kit, the Ph test which was included said my Ph balance down there was normal. I inserted the once-only ovule anyway. By this time I was having discharge, but normal for me (not cheesy white).
After the 3-5 days needed to clear up, it was still itching. I went to the doctor, she took a sample and gave me a prescription for a once-only yeast infection pill. I took that, though after the sample came back she said it was all clear.

I am still itching!!! Now the discharge changes from light yellow colour, to light orange the other day, to clear and sticky like mucus today.
What is going on????
The itch is outside, and can go from mild to severe, and can go from one spot to all over that area all the way to my bum (sorry)..... I don't know what to do.

Love to all

One more thing....When/if you start to look into the Progesterone, make sure others know you are not speaking of Progestogens, Progestins such as Provera, etc....You will get a blank stare probably. Those are the synthetics.

Try to continue to research all of this. It is a lot of work, but worth it. You might find the answer.  Nothing like being your own best advocate!
Take care, Mary

I'm going to go with the thought that this might be a hormonal issue. I know that itchy skin is a sign of hormonal imbalance that is often seen in menopausal women.

I hear you on the frustration and I would not be too happy with a dose of Premarin either. But, I am wondering if progesterone might help. Although when you ovulate Progesterone is released. Gosh...so, which is it? See if you can get your blood levels of hormones checked just after ovulation (specifically estrogen and Progesterone) and see if in fact they are way out of balance.

Now comes the hard part...who to help you? My doctor and my oncologist knew next to nothing back in 2000 about natural or bioidentical hormones. My reg. doctor was willing to work with me fortunately and after a surgical menopause, I was able to get relief for debilitating symptoms. Having said that, I have kept up with my research on this situation and knowing what I know now...well, I wish I knew back then. I do think my body has had a lower level of Progesterone than most.

I have one child but was unable to conceive after that (a progesterone issue? )...and, my body type indicates that I make more estrogen than progesterone, too. I will go out on a limb here and say that if I had had the necessary balance regarding Progesterone and estrogen, I may have avoided the cervical dysplasias (not HTP related) and the ovarian cancer dx. I got back in 2000 for which I had my surgery.

You may have to find an expert in your area regarding hormones...a naturopathic doctor?...I go to a Nurse Practitioner who works in a Urologist's office. Found her by googling "bioidentical Hormone expert" and then found out many of my friends to to her for advice and balance. Grrrr....this is all like a well kept secret.

You might find more info if you google "hormones, bioidentical hormones, itching during ovulation"...etc.

I wish you the best. I can imagine you want to be done with all of this.

Cytolytic Vaginosis is a possibility. Basically too much "good" bacteria due to ph problems, more acidic than normal. Hormones and nutrition could both be culprits.
