skipping a period using birth control

i am using the oral contraceptive Ortho Cyclen.  i heard that if u wanted to skip your period to simply not take the placebo pills at the end of your pack and just start a new pack right away. i was on vacation so i decided that it would be best to skip my period.  I didnt take the placebos and i didnt get my period. my question is... when will i get my next period? should it have been a few days after i began my new pack or will it be at the end of my new pack when i take the placebos for this cycle?? thanks!! <3

I did that for the first time on my honeymoon.  I got my period 2 weeks after starting the new pack.

Yes, ideally you won't have your period until you reach the placebo pills of this second pack.  However, some women do experience breakthrough bleeding or a period, because it didn't work exactly as you hoped.

No matter what happens though, continue your pack as usual. Have your placebo week as scheduled and start a new pack as usual on the following Sunday.  Keep your pills regular even if you have some bleeding.

HI,

If you really don't want to get pregnat I wouldn't play around with your bc pills. If you rather not have a period I recommend using the depo provera shot every 3 months. I used it for a year and didn't have a period for a whole year, and 6 months after I stopped using it. Also I took an evolution course at my university and have read that the less menstrual cycles you have the better since it can reduce the risk of cancer. You may want to look into this.
Good luck whatever your desicion is.

I use to compete at a professional level in sport and the sports gear did not allow for mishaps, if my period fell over a big competition I took the placebo pills.  I was sexually active and my doc said the chances for falling pg were no greater than being on the pill as usual.  She recommended only doing it when I had to and no more than 3 months in a row.

I asked my dr about this exact thing. I was supposed to get af on my wedding day. I didn't want the hassle of it so I asked my dr about skipping the placebo pills and starting a new pack and he assured me that it would be fine.

Take Care
