Today i decided to ring my osteopath who told me to keep hydrated & to make sure to drink lots of water because in lamens terms the scull needs moisture. i have made an effort to drink lots today & although not healed the spot isnt as sensitive &my headaches seam to be better. do you have any other symptoms like body aches fatigue nausia?

I too have a soft spot that is very tender. I can't lean back against anything and to touch it-wow! it hurts. This is new. My husband says the area is very depressed, but not red or anything. I just know it hurts.

I also have a "soft spot" on the top/back of my head about the size of the palm of my hand across. I noticed it a few years ago after sustaining a concussion where I bumped my head after reaching for something underneath a desk... I've bumped my head before in different places and never had a concussion. But when I hit this spot on the back of my head... I stumbled around then was out for 3hrs before anyone knew what was going on. They called an ambulance and I went to the hospital, diagnosed with a concussion. They didn't say anything about a soft spot on my head... My memory, speech, balance were affected for weeks. I was in bed nauseous with a horrible headache for 2 weeks... now if I touch the spot at all even brushing my hair or getting a haircut it's tender, and my headaches seem to stem from there down into my skull.

I don't know what it is. I am afraid of hitting that spot again and suffering another or worse concussion. I have yet to talk to a doctor about it. I feel silly - but it's a genuine concern I need to address. I am a nurse... but I hate going to Doctors... go figure!

I too have a soft spot and am a adult. I once had a CT scan . They said mine is a collection of blood vessels.  Its very soft to touch.  I do get headaches but I'm thinking mine is just hormonal at the time of the month.

I have hit my head several times over the years also and me and my fiancé just noticed a spot on the back of my head that was soft also. He pushed in and he said it budged. It sent shooting pains all through my head. I also at times get really bad migraines. So baf that the tv and everything has to be off. No noise or anything either. Dead silent, no light and with wet ice cold rags all over my head and face. I have had these kinds of headaches since I was a teen. We found out the cause of the headaches are a cause of msg but idk I am starting to wonder if that's the only cause now. I also have major back problems now. The kind of back problems you need surgery for. I barely can sit up or walk and I am only 23. Boy what fun I am having haha! Dr says my back is like an old persons...I was like WHAT!?!? Lol.

did you ever find out your final results when another doctor checked out your mri scan? When I was 4, I was hit by a truck in my head and obtained a concussion and lost a clump of hair, which I still have a small bald spot from.

I noticed a flat spot on my head throughout the years and it seems as though it may have gotten slightly bigger. I have HORRIBLE memory problems and I am only 24. The thing is, I have always had these issues. I have issues with retaining information and I worry that I won't be able to make it in a career because I can't retain anything I learn.

I have always joked about getting a cat scan or mri done and now I think I should after reading your results and another person that commented on here.

I have had a sensitive spot on my head my whole life. I only notice it just as I am getting sick and while I am sick (i.e. cold, flu etc...). When the sickness goes away, so does the sensitivity. (It is always at the same spot on top of my head. recently(at age 45) I have shaved my head. Ironically at the same time I came down with a spring cold. I notice that the sensitive spot that I have looks a little dark...like a light bruise. Does anyone have any info on this type of...thing ??

Hi there,
About a month ago I noticed a soft spot near the top front, right of my head. This is new. I'm pretty sure I have had a thyroid problem for the past four years or so although my doctor has been refusing to run additional tests because my TSH results were in the normal range. Finally I had the addtional Free T3 and T4 tests and I'm convinced it is Hypothyroidism. Anyway, back to the scalp.

My hair has been thinning, which is quite a bummer because I used to have a lot of hair and I'm only 39. With this newfound thinning hair condition I've taken to touching my head more. I think somewhere hoping that maybe I'll activate the pores or something. WILL my hair to grow. I discovered this soft spot probably the size of a large jelly bean. I immediately did some web research and then arranged for blood tests (the long awaited detailed Thyroid tests my doctor finally authorized). Then two weeks later I discovered two additional spots both on the rear upper corners (if a head can have that). Minutes ago I just discovered a fourth. I have an appointment with my doctor and a first time visit with an endocrinologist in four days. I'm hoping that this is nothing, but I can't imagine that this is normal. I'll admit I get very freaked out about this when I stop to think about it. I'll share my prognosis if they provide anything of use.

I also have a soft spot on my head. Its always been there. I get headaches but I also get very, very motion sickness. I always thought that was from my ears. But I am a pro wrestler and get bumped around alot. But I get headaches more form doing rolls than the actual bumping or even being kicked in the head. My boyfriend accidentally touched my soft spot too hard and a got a headache right away and felt sick for the rest of the day. I also noticed a couple years ago it feels like I have a crack going down my forehead. I haven't had any tests cause I can't afford any. But I'm starting to think the soft spot is to do with my sickness. Does anyone else feel sick when the spot is touched? I also can't remember things that well.  Sometimes I feel like I'm going to pass out. Sometimes see spots and start to fall over. I have been wrestling for 11yrs. People think its from wrestling but that has been going on before I started wrestling.

I have also had a few concussions... at age 7 being knocked out being hit with a large rock, at age 8 in a bike accident in Culpeper, VA. At age 9, I was knocked out with a concussion in a rollover auto accident, also in VA. At age 20 here in Phoenix on Christmas Eve 1980 as a passenger in a severe auto accident (that led to a traffic light installation), I suffered severe head trauma with a massive welt on top of my head that hurt to touch for months and was diagnosed with a TBI (traumatic brain injury). Trying to resume touring that spring, I had to pull myself from the road in the midwest weeks later suffering many symptoms, especially a 'fuzzy feeling' of feeling 'high' or 'buzzed' creating depth of field issues, headaches, memory issues (affecting my performances) and personality changes. I had PCS diagnosed after returning home and stayed home from touring for two months and was fine until the next tour late summer where I reactivated/reinjured that soft spot on the beach along the Jersey shore (spare me the jokes) from a rogue wave that capsized me with my head roughly hitting the ocean bottom during some recreation on an off day. barely a week later, I was back in the Valley off the road for another two months of recovery and resumed touring through 1983.

I was never quite the same afterwards, however, but only minorly affected UNTIL I suffered an organic ABI (acquired brain injury) summer 1985 where I was unknowingly chronically exposed to Carbon Monoxide from a gas water heater that leaked into the AC return air duct for 3 months then acutely exposed for 45 minutes once the leak was found. I had similar symptoms to my PCS, but many more added to much greater depths and permanency such as lack of concentration/focus, short-term memory loss, double vision, dyslexia, occasional brief feelings of 'losing it' and a sexual orientation/attraction shift - I'm bisexual - but was born straight. I had the 'fuzzy' symptoms again for several weeks or months, especially during my college courses I never did complete after multiple attempts to finish my degree. Still, to this day when trying to memorize things or from reading novels, textbooks, manuals or especially sight-reading sheet music my brain simply overloads and I cannot encode information from text to brain easily without massive repetition - if at all. No complaints, though, as toxicology tests showed I had ten times the lethal amount of CO in my bloodstream and miraculously survived, albeit greatly changed or altered.

Recently, I had THE worst year ever for my crippling headaches in 2011, practically living on Excedrin Migraine - not sure what escalated them, although I was diagnosed with Stage 3 Carcinoid Cancer. I still feel varying degrees of pain to the touch on the top of that soft spot and I bumped it against a wall recently creating a few of those recurring symptoms on top of my CO poisoning symptoms. I wonder what can be done in regards to this and if I have neurological disorders that do not show in previous MRIs. The whole Junior Seau suicide tragedy brought all this to light, so I am reaching out, albeit as a guy on a women's forum - I found this forum/thread through a100% match of a Google search, FYI. Thanks for your input... Ted in Gilbert, AZ
