swollen labia majora

the lower part of my left labia majora is extremely swollen.  i just noticed it this morning.  i felt an itching and went to the bathroom and at first thought a bug may have bitten me.  it has been swollen for several hours now.  there may be a very small bump inside the labia, smaller than a pea, to the left of the vagina.  i can't tell if this bump is more sensitive because the whole area is so swollen.  it is not painful, but slightly itchy.  there is no discoloration and no differences visually, other than the swelling.  also, i have not had sexual intercourse or engaged in any other sexual activity for a few days, so it doesn't seem to be related.  any thoughts?

I know no one likes this word, but it might be... herpes.  It just sounds like the symptoms... I would go to the doctor or clinic to get it check out.  good luck!

i am having a similar problem i have a small bump on the left side of my vagina . . . i also have a yeast infection. the itchy feeling you are getting may be a yeast infection. If it becomes too much to handle go to the store and get some vaginal cream that releaves the pain for awhile. My bump has now started to become white in color and seems to be getting smaller I think it may be draining but it is hard to tell because I am using the cream for my yeast infection. I suggest going to your doctor just to make sure everything is ok . . . I have scheduled an appt with my doctor. I would get some cream to help with the itching.
