swollen left breast

hi , can anyone help...i am 50yrs old ,i have a slightly swollen left breast , it feels tender to touch on the left side ,it sort of feels bruised , but isnt , the tender bit goes also into my left ribs , i had a mammogram 3 months ago ,nothing was found , i have had this for about 2yrs now

no nothing strenuous or anything  like i say ive had it about 2yrs , whemn the dr did my mammogram in november he could feel a ridge , but after the mammagram he said it was just skin , i also told him it swelled and he told me not to worry and yes the mammagram did hurt my breast more , because my ribs huet also im wondering if there is something wrong with my ribs and its going into my breast

Unless you can think of how it happened--maybe strenuos or rough activity--I would go to my gyn doc. Not to scare you but some very rare forms of disease can cause those symptoms to the breast and not get picked up by the mamogram. Speaking of which, do you think the mamogram had anything to do with it? I hear that those are painful sometimes depending on the tech you get. But yes, inflammation to the breast, pain, tenderness...if it has a dimpled look to it...all says you should get to GYN doc. Silly as it sounds, I saw something like that on Dr Oz one day and he said that a special test should be done to rule that specific disease out. I'm sorry that I can't remember the name of either.
