tired of cost and side effects of ssri's

my zoloft became ineffective.  wellbutrin makes me dizzy.  cymbalta's too expensive.  prozac makes my brain feel weird.  i have screwed up brain chemistry, but i want to get off of meds.  how do i do this and manage to have a normal life--be able to hold a job, stay married, not yell at my kid, not think about ending my life, etc...?

I have been on all of those pills.  When it comes to ssri's I have been through sooooo many of them.  Zoloft didn't work, Wellbutrin made me shake so much I could hardly put my make-up on, cymbalta made my anxiety go through the roof, prozac made me too hyper and anxious, paxil worked then stopped, Anafranil was for my OCD but didn't work, even when I tried it intervenously. I also had combonations of these pills.  I KNOW WHAT YOU MEAN.  All I can say is THANK GOD FOR LUVOX...its the only drug that has helped my ocd...sure, when I'm very anxious it rears its ugly head but its the only thing that's made me lead a semi-normal life.  I also take an anti-psychotic (seroquel) as a sleeping pill, otherwise I can't sleep.  I have to take clonazepam to prevent panic attacks and ativan to stop the panic attacks.  I know what you mean when you say your brain chemistry is screwed up, I am an identical twin and she is just like me...its in the genes.  We both can't work so we are on disability which is the ONLY way I could afford my pills.  I live in Canada and in Alberta, I live on AiSH (Assured income for the severely handicapped).  We don't have to pay anything for our pills, providing they are the generic brand.  I hope you don't think i'm crazy...or lazy, I am intelligent, have a great sense of humor but I can't help that my brain is the way it is. My meds, when they work (which they do now) except that my Dad and Grandma passed away within 2 weeks of each other so I'm more ocd then I'd like lately.  Also, do holidays make you more anxious??? They do for me, even though i like the holidays (f*@king ocd).

If the med is to expensive , have you researched trying to get prescription assistance?  I have heard it announced in the commercials and in the fine print of med ads, I don't know that this applies to your particular medication needs.  There are coupons sometimes, but not all states allow them.
