treatment used for yeast infection that wasn't yeast

by mra2007, Feb 19, 2007 12:00AM
I was diagnossed with cervicitis, we don't know why I have it, I tested negative for STDs and yeast, tric, and bv. My question is I have been treating myself for a yeast infection and it seemed to help.  It would go away for a month or two.  Do you think those other times i probably did have yeast and just not this time or is it possible the treatment helped?

I didn't think to ask the doctor at the time, I don't have a regular gyn. I went to pph because I have no health insurance.

thanks

I was recently told by a top in-her-field doc that over 50% of all yeast cultures, slide preps and KOH preps are negative.  It is very possible that you had a yeast infection.  This doesn't mean that all symptoms that are yeast like and culture neg are yeast.
