underarm breast tissue

by mia.sharma, Jul 03, 2006 12:00AM
i have had a lump under my arm tht was tested 18months ago. i was told this is a breast horn and made up of breast tissue.   it has since grown and is now egg size,  certain times of the month it is very painful and gets bigger.  i was refered back to hospital and the consultant felt it and said they could not do anything as it has grown up into my nerves of my arm.   as i have had a lot of shoulder problems it would not be wise to remove it.  okay i can understand this, but what is the risk of leaving it, should i have any follow up mamograms or worry if it gets bigger. it is very noticeable when i wear sleeveless tops. i cant find any information on internet about this either.

The only trouble with leaving it is that it could grow further.  I would check with another specialist and see if removal is really ruled out.

I have the same on my underarm and I notice that my mum have it on both arm when I was growing up, I only have it on one underarm, It was when I had my first child that I noticed it there and I thought it will go away after I stop breast feeding, but I still have it, I consulted my doctor about it and he said it is a breast tissue that some women have it and it is not dangerous. He said they can do a surgery for me, they can remove it and after two days I will feel better. I told my mum about it and she said I should not do the surgery, my mum still have it and she did not do anything about it and it does not cost her any pain the only thing is she can not wear a sleeveless shirt.

i ave the same thing under my right armit i got it when i had my first child, since then it has grown to about the size of a boiled egg it also leeked milk when i was breast feedin and i could'nt put my arm down, but i noticed that when aving my second child it grew and became slightly hard, i went to my doctor who refered me to the hospital where they told me it was breast tissue & it may grow if i ave any more children. they said i can have it removed which i am as ive had this since my first child who is 9 years old this year. Its been very hard for me to deal with this for so long as when its warm i cant wear sleeveless tops or vests, bt i think you shud see some1 else to see if they can help if not i dont no how things are for you but you could consider going private.
