uneven breasts?

by prettyenough, Jun 30, 2006 12:00AM
i have had uneven breasts since i started developing. my right breast has always been a tad larger. i went to the doctor a few years ago about them and i was told that nothing looked abnormal, that the majority of women have uneven breasts and that if it became a real problem i could get something done to make them even-plastic surgery wise.

i am pregnant now, and my breasts are more uneven than ever before. my right breast has grown so much and my left hasnt at all. i am hoping that when i am done with the pregnancy and breast feeding that they will atleast go back to how uneven they were in the very beginning.

however, if they dont. it will be a huge complex problem i am having.

do you know what could be done to even them out?

Hi

Like the dr said every woman is slightly larger on one side. I am larger on my left side and when I was pregnant the left side became noticably larger (I think a cup size) and sorta stayed like that cos I was pregnant quite close together. It did kinda go back but was more of a difference.

I think the only thing u can do is surgery, but if you want to aviod it maybe just try to ignore it. Thats what I have to do cos I cant afford surgery. Does ur partner mention it? If not then try and get some confidence from that. Im sure he loves ur body, but I know he would love you more. And my husband always says better to have a slight size difference and a beautiful face than perfect breasts. And there is no such thing as perfect in nature...

Hope uve got a bit of confidence from this.... :-)

During pregnancy you might see a shift over time, especially with breast feeding, to increase the size of the smaller one.  But if it doesn't happen and if it seems really extreme to you, you could wear a pad on the smaller side.  My breasts have always behaved differently, with the right one (I'm right handed) always having a normal outie nipple and the left one usually having a sleepy tucked-in nipple.  I always wondered if it had to do with better blood flow or something due to the more active right arm.  If the size diff. is noticeable to you but not to anyone else, at least during pregnancy I wouldn't bother to pad.  Good luck!!!

i appreciate your reply back. my partner has never said anything about it but i have asked him about it and he has truthfully told me there is a difference but he doesnt think its unnattractive. i suppose its always better to ignore it and love your body which i always have really. self esteem hasnt ever been a problem for me. but, maybe its just pregnancy hormones kicking in again and i just have more of a complex about it right now.
i have in fact had a problem with it since ive developed though. i hate the idea of surgery to fix something that makes me 'me' and i seriously dont have the money.

just thought i would post and ask what COULD be done if it were an option at some point down the road.

thanks again.

The only other thing I could think to try (and it is totally unscientific) down the road is working out with the left arm more than the right arm.  I have NO idea if the blood-flow thing makes any sense, but it can't hurt, and it wouldn't cost, like surgery does.

O maybe I should of looked at your name prettyenough :-) Ur right it could be the hormones making u pick up on it more, you could try breastfeeding from the left more and see if that helps? I actually found that my smaller breast seemed to be easier to feed from but I wasnt very good at it so never got the change to try and increase it, but thats worth a try. Im not sure about the exercise thing cos I think that might make one higher as ud be toning the muscles on one side more. Maybe someone else will have an answer. Some one had posted something about a brava like system but I think its about £1000 but I read reviews on the brava system and it has good reviews. Maybe u could use it on one side to increase the size but I dont know if u can use it when pregnant.

Congrats by the way on ur pregnancy how far are u now? Do u know if its a girl or boy?

thanks for your replies!

im 32 weeks and exhausted. haha. the baby dropped a few days ago so i feel like a kangaroo and basically where a backpack wherever i go to feel balanced. hormonally im doing alright, but have my spells. i hope to goodness this is just one of them.
i hate feeling like im gross and ugly and just plain uneven.
i actually notice that i can flex the muscle behind my right breast but cant on my left. as if there is nothing there to flex. weird that you bring that up. however, my muscle on my left arm seems to be larger and stronger than my right(i am in fact right handed)

oh goodness, what is a girl to do. haha.

I've never met a women who didn't have uneven breasts unless they were created in an operating room. If you plan to breast feed be sure to get formal instruction from a midwife or... . Large breasted women often have a difficult time breast feeding.
