unusual period, etc.

Hi i am just concerned about my period this month.
i have had a regular period pattern for like ever since i can remember.. always the last week of the month and it would start light then get heavy then end light with mild cramps. BUT this month was a little different. i was getting alot of cramps for a while and i didnt know what from. then the next day i started my period which made it a week and a half early. it started out extremely heavy, im on day three and its still heavy. and its been severely painful. it has felt as if someone were thrusting a knife into my abdomenal area. ive never experianced that much pain with a period. i had also noticed about weeks before i had also experiance some unusual pain during sex. not real bad tho. but like idk this period isnt usual for me. and ive been getting lightheaded also. any one know what it could possibly be? oh by the way i am 18 years old if that means anything...

Also, if there is a change in your diet or fitness level, that could also affect your periods. Messes with mine every other month!

You might get a gyno appointment and check for an ovarian cyst.  They can affect your periods and make them odd.
