uterine fibroids or cancer

I just had a transvaginal ultrasound and a pelvic ct.  Both tests revealed several masses in my uterus which the doctor said were fibroids.  Can they know that by looking at these tests?  Can they know it isn't cancer?  I'm really terrified!

fibroids are pretty distinctive in ultrasound (i am a tech) and they will do a follow up to make sure they are not changing... but a ct would also show a different kind of contrast if there were malignant tissues in your uterus, so that would have been evidnet. plus ultrasound is really good for determining blood flow to an area, which cancers always have and if the tech did their job correctly they should have taken an image to show if there is possible blood flow or not in an area, to show to the radiologist and the radiologist probably asked that too.
but if you have unexplained weight loss, unusual fatigue, and a change in appetite~ i would call your doctor because these could be early signs of cancer... but i think it is very unlikely that you have anything to worry about... you had the right test done with those modalities having very low innacurate stats in this paticular problem.. good luck!
