Hi Ladies
I feel like I am a survivor of this dreadful issue.  I suffered from vaginal fissures for just over 5 years, although now am free and would like to share all the things I did to cure myself.  Firstly, I cannot tell you how much money I spent going to my gp and specialists only to be told that "yes" they are there, no I did not have a STD; although no one could give me medician to cure it; only to take difulcan for 6 consective weeks... sorry, diflucan was not the answer and also very rough on your kidneys.  I was at home on maternity leave with my baby and decided to do my own research.  Firstly I believed that I had a candida overgrowth, so started taking Five Lac + Golden Seal.  I found an excellent web site called the Finchley Clinic that has lots of great information on it. (I'm an Aussie; although have had to purchase FiveLac either from NZ or the UK as it is not available here).  I also went on a very strict diet and avoided sugar, alcohol and soft cheeses.. really tough as I love chocolate,  red wine and cheese.. although you will eventually be able to go back to these when you are clear.  Next product I found was from Dr Wheatgrass - firstly the healing balm, it does cure the fissures and repair them very quickly; although the problem of why they are appearing needs to be fixed up.  I also started taking the wheatgrass shots as well.  The bottom line to fixing yourself up is to eat healthy, lots of water, try to follow the candida diet (it is really hard, although 3 months tops is really all you need to clear out your system); so with a combination of these products and eating healthy, fingers crossed you will be free.  I used these blogs for support and to take heart when I was suffering at my worst and really felt like I wanted to give back to all you guys who are still suffering.  It is a hidden issue as no doctor really has the answer to help.  I hope this helps some of you.

Hi,

I had that problem for a year before finding out what was causing it.  I saw my GYN and I am negative for STD.  I was told I had chronic yeast and was given medication for it.  I thought that will be the end of it but then the fissure didn't go away after i finished the medicine.  I then stop using cottonelle wipes to see if that was the problem.  Yup, that was what I was allergic to.  I used to use playtex wipes but switched due to the new scent that I didn't like and cottonelle is cheaper.  Once I stop using cottonelle wipes, the itch and the fissure both went away.  I now use summer's eve wipes.  I think the different causes of this problem are:

1) yeast infection
2) menopause
3) STD
4) birth controls
5) something you are using that you are allergic to (EXAMPLE: WIPES)
