vaginal itching...yeast infection??

vaginal itching...yeast infection??

I have been having some bad itching/burning sensation in my vaginal area. I read some of the symptoms re. yeast infections & i really only matched one of them. I am not having any discharge or anything like that. It's more of a irritaion with itching and somewhat burning. I have been applying vagasil cream. Which relieves some of the itching but only temp. & now it feels as if it's getting worse. I am married and we are both faithful, so i'm positive it's not an std. Please let me know what you think it might be.

It does sound like a a yeast infection. I had one twice in my life. They itch like crazy. When you scratch it feels great like a relief almost I am assuming? But it actually makes it worse?  Different things can cause them. If it is your first they usually say you should go to the Dr. just to make sure that is what it is.  The first time I had one I went to the Dr. the second time years later I knew whast it was.  Same symptoms. You would need to buy the cream specifically for that.  You can get it anywhere Walmart, drug stores.  There are many different types.  Some work in one day and they usually cost more and there are others you insert in the vaginal area for up to seven days. A bit messy but the relief of getting rid of it is great.  Hope this info helps some.

thanks, i'm trying to avoid the dr. 1)b/c i allready have a $500. dr. bill & 2)not so easy to get to right now. I think i've had this same thing before. I just can't remember all my previous symptoms. Also last time I got the med. (the kind you insert for about 3 days) it burned like crazy. So bad that I would be in tears & would immed. jump in the bathtub just to get rid of the burning. Is that normal?? Any comments or sugg. would be most appreciated. I'm going pretty crazy!!

Question is it around you cycle time??  I get the same thing sometimes around my cycle but not always it will happen the week before I am to start. My doctor said that if you have your cycle and it stops after your cycle it is not a YF. Not to be TMI but if you rub it it will burn more try not to rub it and you are right nothing really works for it.

I never had the burning after using the med. I know what you mean about the dr bills though. Maybe it was the brand you used?  Just a thought. Not sure what else it could be.  Does it burn at all when you pee?  That usually means a bladder infection. Sorry I couldn't help more.

I had it before too...I think it's called urinary tract infection.  It started with itching on the outer vulvar(vagina), slowly you will feel a burning sensation when you urinate with some blood discharge.  If it get severe you will will get back pain, usually on the left lower back below your liver.  I tried to cured it myself by buying uristat but it does not help..  You actually need doctor presciption for this particular antibotic (antibiotic) (Cipro).  If your condition is less severe then you can drink plenty of cranberry juice or take some cranberry vitamin.

i dont think that is normal to burn like that with meds.  maybe you were allergic to it, it happens, everyone is different.  were you able to use the cream for the whole time specified? and did the infection go away after the cream was done? maybe if you dont have the money for a doc ( believe me i know how it is) then try a different brand of meds for a yeast infection, there are many brands.

You may not have a yeast infection.  My friend had something called vaginitis, which is the opposite of a yeast infection. If you have vaginitis the creams for a yeast infection will make it worse.  It is not an STD, it is similar to yeast infection and is brought on by a change in the normal ph.  The symptoms are very similar.  One thing she had was very swollen vaginal lips.  She said it looked like a strawberry.  Unfortunately there is no over-the-counter cure for vaginitis.  You will need to get a prescription from the doctor.

Good Luck!!

Ok are you rubbbing it at all?  If you rub it then use the Meds it is going to burn like hell. Try Vagisil that is just for itching that is what I use.

Go see a Doctor.  Yeast infections generally have a very very obvious discharge.  The fact you and your husband are faithful doesn't mean it's not an STD.  Some STD's lay dormant and can be asymptomatic in your spouse and you may not get it until many years down the road.  (Herpes is a good example, and one that often is not tested for as part of a normal STD screen, nor do you need to have intercourse to obtain it.)

It could also be something non-STD.  If it's bacterial it needs to be addressed as it can lead to further and somewhat serious complications.

Either way, your health is more important than your discomfort of seeing your Dr.
