weight gain and stopped period at age 40

I just turned 41 2 days ago. I quit smoking 3 months ago with the help from Chantix!  I have gained almost 30 pounds since then. And for the last couple years, my periods have been getting shorter and shorter. This month I didn't get one at all. My body hurts so bad when I wake up and get out of bed until I walk around for about 10 min. Also I have been taking indomethacin for a year as well as tramadol for a headache that won't go away. I've been diagnosed with paroxsysmal hemicrania or hemicrania continua. Doctor isnt sure. Another newer symptom is my heels and ankles have been swelling occasionally. I have been walking 5 miles a day since easter 2013. Its now may 2013 and I have not lost 1 pound.

I've had a full set of labs done but no ultrasound. Paroxysmal hemicrania is a  headache on one side of the head that can last for years. Hemicrania continua never goes away but again is only on one side. has something to do with the nerves in the brain. I actually saw my "doctor" Monday and she doesn't seem concerned with my symptoms. But she doesn't have to live with me either. This body pain and bitchyness has got to stop!

Oh God I am sorry to hear that, that must be so painful.

I would still push for an US then you can rule out any cysts. Don't take no for an answer

I have never heard of paroxsysmal hemicrania or hemicrania continua so I am not sure quite what to respond to just in case it has something to do with that.

However the symptoms you may be having is from menopause or the shock from your body quitting smoking.

Have you had an pelvic ultrasound done? FSH blood work?
