what are these veins?!!

About a week or so ago i started noticing these veins just under the skin on my breasts. They werent very noticeable and it was only on one side. Now I am getting more of them and they get slightly darker every day. Now i have them on both breasts and on my chest, my arms, thighs, and on my sides. They are pretty noticeable now. The ones on my chest are the most noticeable. I asked my boyfriend and he said they were definitely getting darker. They dont hurt or anything they are just really unattractive! I'm just wondering what these could be from?

Marilynn -- just one of the many fun things that happen to the bod during pregnancy; wait until you get that line from the navel. :)

perty -- well, not my pre-pregnancy jeans, but into a pair that at least aren't maternity.  (My maternity jeans hang on me and make me look like one of those old ladies with a flat butt.  Very encouraging!)  I didn't care if I got my old shape back quickly or not, but with the birth and probably also because of nursing, the weight has come away.  Also, I've been so busy adapting to the baby's schedule that me eating as constantly as I was when pregnant just isn't happening.  :) I hope you do get a boy, especially if that is what is your heart's desire, everyone says they are so much sweeter than girls!  Annie

Haha yes i plan on nursing.. oh well i guess this isnt the end of the world. My boyfriend has a fun time tracing them and discovering little shapes that the veins make..so at least he enjoys them!

Definitely happened to me early in pregnancy.  Don't plan to pose for Playboy soon without airbrushing the photos.  :)

I am not sure of the cause on your arms, thighs, and sides, but getting darker veins on your chest is totally normal during pregnancy.  You might want to question your doctor the next time you see him about the areas other than your chest, though.

When I was up for 76 hours with a crying, dehydrated baby at the hospital, I nearly lost it, but now things seem more manageable. It snowed today here with a really icy slickness, and the town is more or less shut down, so Augie and I just ate and slept all day.  Kind of snug. :)
