what is wrong with me

I haven't gotten my monthly in a long time. Last time I got it was because I went to the doctor to get birthcontrol pills. I want to have a baby very badly and if I am not getting my monthly how am I going to get pg? I am only 24 years old but I am over weight, I just don't understand why I am not getting my monthly. I have gone to doctors and they do not know what is wrong with me. I was wondering how I can start getting my monthly so that I can get pg and have a baby.

A doctor can give u ovulation pills but know this if u stress it than u will take all the fun out of making and having a baby first plan things out and enjoy yourself you are only 24 u have plenty of time to try to get pg and anything is possible I had ovarian cysts and said the same thing what is wrong w/me but there is nothing wrong all i did was calm down and relax and now my son is 2 months old and im expecting in oct 8 so just weigh your options and tell your OB/GYN what you are trying to do and she may be able to help

you should also look into PCOS, it could be the cause of the lack of periods.

a doctor will be able to give you pills that will bring on your period if you are trying to concieve.

Have you ever had your thyroid checked?  Hormones are a funny thing and if there is something going on with your thyroid it could cause no periods and the weight gain.  I would talk with you dr. and have some tests run.....congrats on losing weight, you should proud of yourself!!!

I weighed almost 370 and did not get a period.  Then I lost 130 lbs and it came regularly and within 5 months I got pregnant with my daughter.

Orphanannie has a great idea with the thyroid check.  If you haven't already, it is a simple blood test, and you will get results in a few days.  On many occasions, it is routinely done in a well check up.

Call your general practioner or 'family dr.', and ask for a well check up.  They will check a variety of things including thyroid and cholesterol.  It is very simple.  Good luck!

I have been loosing weight for some time now but I really haven't had a normal monthly sense I was 17. I have always been over weight. But I stopped getting it every month and my mom said that she was the same way. Right now I weigh 250 lbs which is really bad and I know that but I am loosing weight at 2-3 lbs a week I am really working at it. But when I stopped getting my monthly I was only 165 lbs. I do know that weight has something to do with it but, I was wondering if there might be something else. I want to know why I haven't gotten pg. I have been having sex with out a condom sense I was 16. I do not have any STD's but I did have cervical cancer when I was 17 I had it taken care.I use to take birth control to keep me getting my monthly every other month or so but now the birth control gives me kidney stones.

Becka - are you significantly overweight?  That alone can cause ammenohrea.  Often,  losing a small amount of weight can bring them back.

Best wishes.
